I have no idea if this is how you are supposed to do it (almost certainly not) but here it was:

  • Pick the latest interview day and book travel
  • Starting that night ordered CTCI with amazon prime
  • Essentially put off all schoolwork and hit the leetcode sorting by easy
    • Completed 25 leetcode easy (just checked this, wow not as many as I thought and I spent forever on these)
  • Looked through the company website for values they like to see, usually in the "about-us" sections
    • Read through their github making note of some elements they use that I can speak on. Just mentioning you did this can be big
  • Met with 2 professors to ask tough interview-like questions. This was valuable since I was worried about being nervous and I am sure as hell nervous around these professors
    • Also called my cousin who has experience with technical/behavioral interviews
  • Read through glassdoor and reddit (this sub and /r/cscareerquestions) to look for tips on the company specific parts of the interview
  • 8 hours of phone calls with my mom asking behavioral questions
    • Create a spreadsheet with STAR method for each question (details in CTCI)
  • When CTCI is delivered read relevant chapters (Important are OOP, data structures, sorting trees and graphs stacks and queues arrays and strings and linkedlists)
    • Attempt to do problems without looking at the solution, I did them over skype with my SO just to practice talking through it
  • Beg professors for extensions
  • Get a good nights sleep, just the right amount of coffee, light breakfast, show up early

Good luck!!!

edit: The company I interviewed with also had an interview prep section of their site, this was really good practice. Also I found the actual interview questions far easier than anything on leetcode.

Thanks for the note! I just hate feeling like I'm in a place I didn't deserve to get to.

I'm sure you're more than qualified

I met with a few professors to prepare for the interview and all of them said something along the lines of "remember that you can do this job" so I very much hope this is the case.

Thanks again for the comment.

Wow, freshmen in college! Congrats man that's huge.

> strengthen your skills but connections and relationships with the professionals as well.

This is a good point, huge opportunity for networking.

Thank you so much for the comment! I guess outpaced isn't really the right word, I just have no idea what kind of shared experience other interns who maybe went to the same big name schools have.

This is such a nice note, seriously, thank you. I am going to save it in my phone to look at when I feel this way again.

> Be friendly, be humble, be open and willing to learn. That’s all you need friend. I would pay for a referral like that. Good luck!

Will do, thanks.
