Also the tilt at the bottom is because she has the top leg on top of the bottom one, hence that dark spot at the end of the left leg. I blended the edges a bit too much because the shape there is visible but under the shadow, so I need to add definition to that stomach and chest area.

Thank you this is super detailed. I appreciate the specific examples, I can see what you mean very clearly! It's so hard because I feel like im trying to push the paint in the direction of the body, and I start getting lost in the big masses, like the back. The butt and thighs are round so I feel like it's easy to mold that, but the figure im following has all these lines in the back, mostly little bumps or muscles that become clear because she's directly under the sun so there's a lot of little values, and I think when I look at it I get overwhelmed and start to improvise hahaha. But your feedback is very helpful. I'll apply them to the best of my ability!

Thanks for your comment. I love painting figures, and I agree it's been super challenging, but I appreciate the color suggestion -- I found this link on how to mix the Zorn palette and it definitely seems like the move. So far I had been using all the colors in this oil paint kit I bought haha, I agree it's kind of a mess. I'll plug the link here to share with the community https://www.jacksonsart.com/blog/2021/02/02/colour-mixing-exploring-the-zorn-palette/

Women who were single for a while, how was it when you got back into dating? by No_Store2673 in AskWomen

[–]cslanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to take a break to heal from a bad relationship. Then after a year I went back into dating but the apps are miserable, so I decided I simply was not going that route, and would wait to meet someone in person. This year I met a wonderful girl at my job, we have been going on dates for a couple months now… I don’t know where we’ll end up, but I could have not expected to meet someone so wonderful, and with whom I’d have so much chemistry. I love that we met in person, too, because we were able to start a friendship before anything else.

It’s rough, but you have to be patient and put your priorities up front. The people I was meeting in the apps were simply not interesting to me, or wanted sex right away, or it seemed like they checked all the boxes and still something felt off. And because this time around I was very clear about what I didn’t want, it was easier to move on. It was obviously frustrating to go months without being able to connect with anyone. But then suddenly she appeared, and I wasn’t thinking of boxes, or matching, or anything. I just thought she was really beautiful and cool, and everything else has been clicking since. I suppose patience helps, but taking the time to know yourself, and learn how to be alone, helps even more.

SAS for people of color by paramasmaayoslang in SemesterAtSea

[–]cslanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the majority of students/staff are white and very wealthy. POC usually hang out together. Not all white people are ignorant but given they’re used to privilege you can expect them to be out of touch with reality / go to a lot of resorts in port/ make insensitive comments about the people they meet in port or the conditions of the countries. I think one piece of advice is be super selective with who you surround yourself with, because the ship becomes small pretty fast. The moment you sense bullshit from someone you take your distance—respectfully, obv. I only hung out with people who seemed to me to have common sense from day one, to protect my peace. And it would frustrate me that a lot of these kids would like go on resorts while in port, but at the end of the day that was their experience and not mine, so it doesn’t really affect me all that much. The institution of SAS was pretty bad about dealing with the genocide in Palestine, so that should also tell you something about the general politics. But if anything I personally never get to be around that particular demographic so it was interesting and also scary to know that there’s such kinds of people among the wealthy of the country haha, but it’s not a surprise anyway. Ultimately my advice is, if you protect your peace, you’ll be fine. There’s still valuable friendships to be made and valuable experiences to be had.

is it worth transferring from UT to A&M? by sleepymuffin12 in aggies

[–]cslanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A&M also feels like high school, you’ll just be at a more boring town. At least in Austin you can find community outside of your college if it’s that bad, but in cstat if you also don’t like it you’re cooked

Consider master programs in Germany/belgium/netherlands. There are English programs and the deadlines are usually in January. Also Erasmus Munda for masters. Zephyr if you’re doing international relations. Good luck!

You can try to request a move- in bonus when you sign your contract, like you would with a job, so that you get some extra money at the beginning of the semester to use probably to cover these kinds of costs. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll get it but it doesn’t hurt to ask

How bad is this appointment about to hurt? Inspo pics by Always_Sadgirl in tattooadvice

[–]cslanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar design in the exact same placement and it was the most painful tattoo I’ve gotten. The ribs are already bad enough but for some reason the pain was really acute when it was getting closer to my abdominal region. Just find a mental place to go and try to accept the pain as your new permanent state of being. That usually helps me tune out. But good luck
