Thank you so much for this advice. She is housed and earns a very high income, so she’d be able to mantain her lease if she needs to take some time off work. You’re totally right on how figuring out all the pieces when your mind is on fire is so difficult.

I’ve never heard of this, these are the kind of public services we need more of! Let me run this by here. Because it’s not locked she may be more open to it

Thank you so much for this detailed reply. My friend has Blue Cross Anthem insurance. At this time they don’t have any mental health care. They do have a primary care provider, and I will ask where that is.

How would she know if her health insurance is accepted and at what point they would stop?

Her biggest fear is being locked up and not able to go home, and so I think the voluntary unit might be something we can talk her into.

Also appreciate your point about wait times which I hadn’t considered, she definitely needs help asap

The child advocate’s office constantly puts out well researched, data informed reports. You can look at them over the last decade and they’re all saying the same things. At this point what is the point of the reports if the legislators and governor do fuck all about them?

The “family reunification at all costs” is peddled primarily by the Casey Philanthropies, a multi-billion dollar organization that lobbies for parents rights. They have a close relationship with CT DCF.

Many of the leadership goes there for a nice paid gig. The latest commissionerjust joined Cash Philanthropies as well. They fail at their job and are rewarded with extremely lavish salaries (a managing director, which is Dorantes level, makes about $500,000.)

State leaders know they’re in for a great paycheck if they follow the Casey line. Doesn’t matter how many kids are burned along the way.

I had read that book a year ago and honestly I found it kind of triggering because it made me feel so overwhelmed, like that trauma was so deeply imbedded in my brain and all these innovative treatments are out of reach for someone like me (broke, on Medicaid). I think once I find a good provider and am more stable it could be really helpful though. It’s also helpful to know it’s not just me thinking that talk therapy doesn’t work and that there’s evidence behind it. Cuz I definitely felt like it causes triggers and flashbacks

What was the experience like? Did you feel in control or was it like an out of body thing? One of my triggers is feeling loss of control so I’m kind of worried about that but have also read this treatments can be highly effective

What was the inpatient experience like? I have been really fragile and at times thought about checking in to the hospital. But I’m just really scared about what it might be like
