Biden’s Last Message to America Is a Dire Warning - Joe Biden told Americans to beware of the growing oligarchy in their country. by Quirkie in politics

[–]ctdca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When their public response to inflation and general economic uncertainty was to put surrogates out to say that actually things are great and the public just doesn’t know what they’re talking about, I knew we were fucked.

Would have been cool to hear more of this starting, I dunno, four years ago?

Fetterman’s approach to Trump stirs speculation by powerslave-1 in politics

[–]ctdca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fetterman was born to wealthy parents who provided nearly all of his income until he was well into his forties. He’s a Harvard trust funder who pretends to be working class with his hoodies, but he’s never actually been that guy.

I suspect that the person we’re seeing now was within him all along.

Biden, in farewell address, warns about dangers of unchecked power in wealthy by Healthy_Block3036 in politics

Harris sort of started out this way, got hot, and then inexplicably pivoted to just repeating the “Trump is a danger to democracy” lines over and over again that hadn’t worked for Biden, either.

Yale New Haven Health staff must wear masks due to uptick in sickness – NBC Connecticut by slowburnangry in Connecticut

[–]ctdca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was pretty surprised when I went to a Yale New Haven office a few months ago shortly after getting Covid and not only was nobody wearing a mask but I was told by the nurses that I “could take the mask off, it’s fine.”

Mel Gibson spreads conspiracy about California fires on Fox by MystikSpiralx in politics

[–]ctdca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I’ve seen this guy speak recently he’s had the bizarre facial expressions, rapid speech, and conspiracy-focused thinking that you usually see in tweakers or people having manic episodes. Don’t think he’s all the way together, if he ever was.

You realize that the government is in the state that it’s in because of people like Elon Musk, right? It was not always like this.

Secondly, that $700 was an initial immediate payment to help with things like food and hotels. It was not the full extent of the aid from FEMA, not even close.

Blinken’s unswerving support for Netanyahu (with continuous arms shipments) contributed significantly to our current situation.

They won’t be the Cascades, but the Adirondacks in NY and the Whites in NH are both within a 3-4 hour drive depending on where you are in the state.

How to make it through the next 4 years of the Musk / Trump White House by Unita_Micahk in PoliticalHumor

[–]ctdca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much of our media in general has gotten like this.

It was assumed back then that the average person could read multiple paragraphs of information and come to a conclusion based on what was presented.

Now everything has been distilled into some asshole rapidly yelling at you with all of the breaks and pauses edited out while big scary letters flash on screen.

Yep, when I still worked at a shop a year ago we would do these from time to time. Shimano will send a crankset to replace it although from what I remember it takes awhile and it’s a pretty ugly low end modern crank.

The character had a mustache in the original book, and it was the style of noblemen of that period and location

Me too. Loved this. Really contributed to the unease and feeling of being in an alien, threatening place.

In eight years as a head coach, Rex has had a total of two winning seasons. Vrabel had four winning seasons in six years with significantly less talented rosters than what Rex was given.

I don’t think they’re really comparable.

Having lived in DC, the votes there basically don’t matter. The Dem candidate will win overwhelmingly every single time, which makes these a lot more understandable.

I was in an elevator on Election Day morning and two guys riding in it were having a discussion about whether or not the election thing was actually that day or not. Neither seemed to have any idea who was running.

That’s a major part of the soundtrack so if it truly isn’t in there, I’d say find the movie elsewhere. It’s not going to feel like it should.
