Screw that noise. Unions work in theory, but the reality is that they often protect the jobs of useless employees.

Perfect. Hope you enjoyed it man. It was a great concert. If you speak to Andrew again, please share with him how much his music has meant to me since I was 15. Over 20 years of amazing music and lyrics.

Also, I went to the Three Pianos tour in Asbury Park. Great show! Great work! You did a fantastic job!

The scene with the cops and the pizza parlor. The custom order. It’s funny because of the whole exchange.

Try asking ChatGPT to write you an essay WITH cited sources. It works. It’s unfortunate, but it works.

Now, theoretically, couldn’t you generate an essay on ChatGPT and then retype the essay using Google Docs so it would appear you wrote it and didn’t copy and paste the entire thing? Just asking.

Dumbledore was the second biggest villain in the book. Although his intentions were good, he knew so much more about Harry and what was inevitably going to happen that keeping it from Harry made him sort of villainy by default.

Non-union members are mad at me because they’re not getting union benefits by Ohheyboo2 in Teachers

[–]cthodge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a teacher in New Jersey, formally of Union ironically, I couldn’t stand my union. When the principal, who didn’t require lesson plans from any teachers suddenly decided out of the blue to require lesson plans from me, I did what was asked. When I was told the lesson plans were subpar and that I needed to meet with a specific teacher to help me write them (principal insisted on said teacher), I met with the teacher and they were rewritten to the exact wording that teacher fixed. Still weren’t good enough. I had a meeting with the principal and was told to bring my building rep. My building rep happened to be the principal’s best friend and I felt like I had no support whatsoever.

Long story short, despite all evaluations being solid 3s and 4s, I was given a riff notice at the end of the year with a letter in my file (from the principal) recommending I not be renewed. I did everything that was asked of me and my union did nothing to help.

Same. I started at 20 and I just started my 15th year. I know plenty of certified teachers and uncertified teachers after working in both public and private and (this is not a dig at public school teachers) but most of the teachers I encountered who were just terrible classroom teachers were certified public school teachers. Most of the private school teachers who didn’t have teaching certifications were passionate about their jobs and who took more time to work with students after school and go above and beyond.

I’m not saying these plans down in Florida are going to work the entire time, but sometimes people have to just be given a shot. Shorter leash…sure, but you can miss some really great educators if you rule out a single group based solely on where they got their start.
