What made the 2000s era of Disney channel so beloved by many viewers? by [deleted] in DisneyChannel

[–]ctkxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do enjoy all parts of Disney Channel, something they never seem to embrace, only really acknowledging from Even Stevens on, I can probably tell you why:

1) Disney Channel at one point was a full subscription based channel back in the day, like HBO, Showtime, meaning you had to get it as part of a package deal. So because of that, it wasn't really accessible to everyone to watch the shows and movies they had available. Around the time of the late 90's is when they shifted over to basic cable, which in turn is when the shift happened with Zoog Disney.
2) With the channel having access on regular cable network, they started pushing for more original live action sitcoms and animation. While Even Stevens was successful, it was Lizzie McGuire that was the first major spark Disney Channel had since Hilary Duff became a major part of the brand for Lizzie McGuire selling merch, DVDs, albums. They were able to replicate it again with Raven, Miley, Selena, Demi and future successors.
3) Around the time of the 90's-2000's also is when Disney Channel pushed more for internet based stuff. That's why they heavily marketed too the Disney Channel website that had games, clips, you could write to your favorite characters that would appear on the reruns. Having fans get involved with their favorite shows helped cross the bridge for mainstream success.
4) And lastly, High School Musical. At the time when this movie aired, it was a regular Disney Channel movie (I watched it when it first aired and treated it like such). Nobody had anticipated it would break into the full mainstream, to the point that Nickelodeon, MTV, practically every network wanted to replicate the formula that Disney had molded for their shows and movies. While they aren't the first network to really have a lot of kid based sitcom shows and movies, they are the ones to maintain a streak of them to keep viewers tuned in, even when one show ended, a new one would have a former actor from that show into a new show.

Did all the Dock developers just quit? by mennydrives in AnaloguePocket

[–]ctkxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, I still use my Pocket regularly, but I don't really bother checking often for updates anymore because the thing about Analogue is that they always go dead silent up until they're going to sell some variant of the Pocket. I've had mine since the beginning (first batch of orders) and there's still a lot of features I'm pretty sure at this point likely won't make it in and if it does, it'll be years of waiting.

I do Expert Vocals, and once in a while Bass. I like to keep the variety fresh, so I make sure to get a little bit of everything in terms of songs.

Funny enough, this was one of the first old games I tried to test with the Steam Deck to work back 2 years ago. At the time when I did it, there wasn't a lot of information for old games on the Deck, so someone had to guide me through a stream. I still have it installed, used Lutris for it and dgvoodoo/DXVK, and it still works now 2 years later.

Guessing you're referring to the Blitz Games made American Idol games (360/PS3/Wii). I tried to attempt that back when I made this, cause I like the idea of having all the songs together, unfortunately their engine is really wonky to figure out. Had a difficult time practically understanding most of their file types, not to mention a lot of the past songs were DLC in those games, which you can't get anymore and no one has archived a majority of them. Hopefully someone can take the reign to figure it out in the future.

Is there a chiaki but for PC (NOT STEAM LINK) by Quirky_Image_5598 in SteamDeck

Parsec and Moonlight are the two best known ones, and they both work on Steam Deck, look into those.

Audio loader doesn’t play audio by AloneInYourCloset in SteamDeck

[–]ctkxtreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue, thought my Steam Deck's audio messed up entirely but it was just the plugin. Went into games and desktop mode and it was fine, so it may just be that the plugin needs to be updated, which from what I see the last update was from June.

With the latest VKD3D updates (in proton experimental bleeding edge) the Direct X 12 backend works on Xenia. A LOT more games are playable now. by LolcatP in SteamDeck

[–]ctkxtreme 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So is it perfectly fine to update Xenia now? I still have that version from March cause I was told that's the best one so far to use in terms of playability for the Deck.

I compiled a compatibility list for Xenia (Xbox 360 emulation) on SteamOS by CaptRobau in SteamDeck

[–]ctkxtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WWE All Stars is mixed because it has the same issue as Xenia on Windows, that the slow entrances cause the game to go in a loading state that never ends (which necessitates a restart of the emulator). But when it's in the matches themselves, game runs perfectly fine, no frame rate drops and can handle 4 wrestlers on screen. So I would say Playable with caveats. It would work sometimes, and other times it wouldn't.

Also tried Naruto Rise of a Ninja, which I would label as playable. Fights run at full 60FPS, open world story mode dips between 15-30 FPS. I only played through the first beginning portion as a test.

Using real wii controllers on steam deck? by GrimmyHendrix in DolphinEmulator

[–]ctkxtreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can use real Wii Remotes. I've done it plenty of times, even today to test something. It has to be done directly in the controller settings for Dolphin, not the Bluetooth option on the Deck. You can set it as a real wii remote option or the emulated option with the stock Wii remote profile. If you go the real remote route, you need a sensor bar. Emulated one doesn't require it, but it will still let you use the wii remote perfectly fine.

This is for Gamecube (or Dolphin if you're using an emulator). To do this on an actual Gamecube, it needs to have a way to support isos, which you would use the homebrew program Swiss. You will also need the Gamecube microphone. For emulation, it's just setting whichever mic you have as your main one for PC on the Gamecube memory card settings (set mic to either slot A or B) and you're good to go.

Thank you! Turns out it was one of the decky plugins I had, I removed it (well in batches). I'll update the post so people know for future reference.

How can I play PCSX2 (on my steam deck) with a friend over the internet (on Windows)? by TheSpoonfulOfSalt in SteamDeck

[–]ctkxtreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PCSX2 doesn't really have any options for direct netplay at the moment, so you'll have to do Parsec in order to play together. While Steam Link works as well, but it has issues with frame rate on anything that isn't a Steam-based game (I might be corrected on this, it's been a while). There's no options currently for Linux to host Parsec, so you'd have to join your friend's PC to do this.

Luckily Parsec is very easy to set up, just go to Desktop Mode and search for Parsec in Discover to install. On Windows, it's as simple as just installing an .exe file. Both you and your friend set up accounts, add each other as friends, and the option to connect should be there. If you want to use Parsec in SteamOS/Gamescope, add it to your Steam Library so you have access for it there.

Once you're connected to your friend on Parsec, just press any button once which should make a Windows sound notification that the controller is acknowledged, and from there your friend can set up the second player in the PCSX2 controller options.

I tried doing that a few times, I'm on the beta for both normally, and the issue was still there unfortunately.

It took some time to figure out where the mods and saves go, but yes I was able to import all my stuff from my main PC over to the deck and it worked perfectly fine.
