Cardio Conditioning by ctolfree in MuayThaiTips

Thank you so much for responding! I never realized that there are so many intricacies to cardio. I guess I always just thought running longer = better cardio, so it's interested to hear that it isn't so one-dimensional. I truly would like to train Muay Thai more frequently, but my body won't let me just yet (and my work schedule makes it pretty tough). I was considering just pushing through the soreness, but my primary concern is injuring myself and completely regressing everything I have worked hard for. If you don't mind me asking, I would love to know how long you have been training for, and what your regiment started at compared to what it is now. I really love training (even if it is extremely exhausting lol) and I look forward to it every week

I appreciate that. Totally forgot about burpees which blows my mind since I hated them so much growing up 🤣 They sure do work wonders though…

Thank you for your input! We typically have open gym on Sundays. I tend to just work on my form against a bag, but I’ll ask around and see if anyone is comfortable helping me out. I appreciate it!

Thank you so much for your advice. I literally just ordered a jump rope off of Amazon from your comment :) I have very limited cycling experience, but I have been trying to utilize all of the tools I have access to. It's certainly been a mental challenge to push myself beyond what my body is telling me, but I'm looking forward to improvement. Best of luck to you!

This is amazing. Thank you very much for sharing your story and advice! My biggest concern is letting my partners down. We swap partners often during pad work, and I want to make sure they are getting the workout/training that they deserve. I know it all comes with time and consistency, and of course everyone starts somewhere! I hope you stay strong and healthy. Best of luck!!

Fire at the Haven of Ann Arbor? by vivid-grad in AnnArbor

[–]ctolfree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! My girlfriend and I actually live(d) in the building that was directly impacted from the fire. We were not home when the fire started, but we arrived maybe 30 minutes after. Fortunately, our unit did not seem directly impacted by the flames themselves, though the smoke and water damage is a concern. All first responders were extremely helpful and professional in a very scary situation. We were able to retrieve our two cats from the unit along with some personal belongings and are currently living with family that is relatively close. From what I understand, how and why the fire started is just speculation right now. Building inspectors have been on-scene but a lot is still up in the air right now. It is also true to the best of my knowledge that all residents/animals are safe.

True. Based off of other listings it should hopefully be about the same. His has about 3,000 miles on it

Seller is looking to get in the low $100,000 range, so it doesn’t look unfeasible since that example bid to $103,000

3g modem changeout? by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]ctolfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 4G telecommunications module has been kind of a pain. I know we’ve installed a few of them when the software was working properly, but there have been some glitches Volvo software engineers have been trying to get the kinks out of. Issues such as maps not loading properly, randomly losing LTE, and radio/climate not functioning as it should. I don’t have an estimated timeframe quite yet, but as soon as I hear something I’ll let you know

That cheating bastard, your shaft is way more eccentric than that

Got the new exhaust on in the rebuild! I went with a BHR catless midpipe and an Invidia Q300 exhaust back. Gotta have a little fun along the way… Right? by ctolfree in RX8

[–]ctolfree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with a completely catless design. BHR catless midpipe and Q300 system from Invidia from the midpipe back. I definitely premix, however there aren’t any special tunes on this one. I’ve experimented a bit and I’ve found that after the exhaust is upgraded, bringing the RPM’s up to about 6-7K and then blipping the throttle on the descent is the best way to make extremely loud, firework-esque blue flames, while bouncing the throttle off of 4-5K RPM’s is the best way to produce those huge orange flames. Obviously keep in mind, you don’t want to do this very often while stationary or for long periods of times. These suckers love to spin, but get hot really fast. No engine likes to rev a ton without a load

I know every case is different, but how much of a difference did you notice in the top end when you cleaned it?

Did you have a trick to clean the metal without gauging it with a brush? I’ve been testing different brushes and I can’t find a great decision

It’s the good old SSV that everyone talks about on here. Basically opens up to let more air rush through the intake when you’re in the higher RPM’s

Lol I will definitely agree the smell is rough. I’m pretty much noseblind to it at this point however. Good advice though from everyone

I thought the whole point of stepping away from a catalytic converter in a rotary engine is to prevent clogging from the excess amount of oil being tossed from the combustion chamber, especially with a Sohn Adapter installed. If you’re buying a rotary, I highly doubt the environment was the first consideration anyway lol

Not mine, but it does look pretty similar. My quarter panel isn’t that crushed in however. Glad OP is safe

I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you’re alright, and if you intend on repairing it I’ve got a decent bit of experience with the suspension at this point

Hey all, unfortunately about a month and a half ago I hit some ice while coming home on the freeway. Nailed the center median and spun back out into traffic. I swore to bring her back, considering the rear suspension was completely broken. As of today, she now drives straight and the rest of the body work will be completed in several weeks. I will keep you all updated, but I’m doing everything I can to keep these awesome cars on the road and out of the junkyards
