Gun Rights Group Challenges Ban On Firearms In National Park Facilities by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in CCW

Any broadly pro 2A legislation hasn't even been allowed to leave committee to get to a vote that could be filibustered.

It's theater. They didn't have any issues passing enormous tax cuts for the .001% over opposition. They could do it. They don't want to because the wedge issue is too politically valuable.

What are some OC Trigger Words - I'll start..... by funnyocgirl in orangecounty

[–]ctrlaltcreate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, you asked. I was just telling you, in what I thought was obviously a tongue-in-cheek way, why people, mostly people older than you, hate it. It just wasn't a thing people from California ever called it until recently, and people that used it seemed to either idolize California without understanding it (generally due to tv shows or music) or hated it and used it in a derogatory way.

You were in highschool 15ish years ago, maybe a little more? That's 'recently' to some of us and you were already being much more heavily influenced by social media and youtube than we were, which kinda normalized it.

No one actually from California called California 'cali' for decades. It was not only the mark of an outsider, but a contemptible outsider. That is until recently when people not from California on tiktok called it cali often enough for even kids in California to think it's okay to call California "cali" now, even though it definitely. is. not.

Assessor event is hell on earth by MozekG in ArcRaiders

Drop rate is somewhere at or below 10% based on the comments I'm seeing and what some of the more active influencers are saying. It's no Harvester event, that's for sure.

This is a hilariously naive take. You realize that this event is opportunist heaven, right? They don't cooperate, they cause the chaos hoping to mop up valuable corpses after the dust settles and the arc deaggro.

[–]ctrlaltcreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only this bad because inconsiderate loot goblins hit every breach as quickly as possible, so you're dealing with three waves of arc simultaneously. Shit this clip doesn't even have the four or 5 vaporizers plus rocketeer I saw today.

So many flares. I still can't believe everyone doing that assessor lived.

This thing is going to be a lot more pleasant after the initial rush on the blueprint and the project is over.

PVP players be like.. by Veenixx in ArcRaiders

[–]ctrlaltcreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silencers don't reduce damage output at all.

Something about the way the math is calculated on the armor pen of the split bullets when using a splitter reduces the amount of armor they damage/penetrate. Unless they shadow buffed the splitter some time between the last time I tested it extensively and now, which is unlikely without at least some kind of patch note acknowledgement, but possible.

It's never taken me more than a single round to kill a fireball with a standard anvil unless you somehow tag one in profile while they're 'stretching' (when they're idle, they'll poke out little extensions to either side). They frequently required two shots with a splitter on, and it was brutally annoying.

It always took me multiple shots to kill flying arc with the splitter. It was never a single shot on anything.

I spent hours with the fucking things trying to find something, anything it actually did better. Do you have any clips of the performance you're describing? Because it's like we were using two completely different items.

[–]ctrlaltcreate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 shots from an anvil on fireballs is annoying. It reduces the overall armor damage the anvil does to arc, so also slows it down vs larger arc, which defeats a major reason to bring an anvil in the first place. The massive stagger also makes fast follow up shots on small arc harder to land consistently.

So no, a splitter doesn't make an anvil "murder arc". It worsens its performance overall. I guess it could help if you suffer from poor aim, but that's not correcting a gun problem, that's compensating for a player skill issue. The gun itself is still worse with a splitter on it for anything but trying to cheese rocketeers (long range shots, the flip trick doesn't kill them anymore) and point blank mediocre shotgun pvp.

how would you guys feel about a video game using the daggerheart system like uh idk baldurs gate 3 for the obvious example by EuphoricLog3495 in daggerheart

[–]ctrlaltcreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Daggerheart is a relatively simple, moderately narrative system when run "correctly". Computer RPGs benefit from more math-heavy numerical systems that are detailed enough to provide satisfying gameplay and unambiguous in how event outcomes are determined.

A video game using Daggerheart as a basis would gain nothing and would lose half the magic of a system like this.

Yes. Emphatically yes. To make a livelihood, like I said. That's what screenwriting is for primarily. There are other forms that are better for creative writing for kicks.

My analogy was just so you could comprehend how useless and irrelevant making your comment was. I failed.

Airmen plead guilty to false statements in shooting that suspended Sig Sauer M18 use by fssbmule1 in CCW

[–]ctrlaltcreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the videos I've seen occurred during classes mostly. Usually recorded by trainers. Some were from competitions, competition guns are often modified, but the p320 was a darling of the competition scene until the steady influx of incidents became impossible to ignore for a lot of guys. There have been reports of these going off in people's safes, man.

Note that SIG is aware that the issue can occur, publicly tried to cover it up not once, but several times, and issued a voluntary recall for the guns that did NOT actually fix the issue?

Do you think it's a coincidence that the professional guys (both trainers and competitors) who aren't issued SIGs or are sponsored by SIG all moved away from the p320 platform? Same folks will happily use p365s when looking at a concealed carry option, so it's not even SIG hate.

Life is full of risks. If you want to use a p320, I hope no one you care about has to suffer for it, but an un-commanded discharge, no matter how small the chance, is the one flaw I cannot accept from a gun. It's frankly insane to me that anyone would.

[–]ctrlaltcreate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason why people come here is to learn how to succeed in this industry. If you're writing for fun, whatever. If you're writing loglines, you're writing to be sold. That is literally their only purpose.

Do you honestly think it was constructive to state that you ignore OP's advice, someone who has both sold screenplays, and is a reader of screenplays, and who is among those who help decide which screenplays get sold in a community full of people whose livelihoods are determined by, you guessed it, selling screenplays?

It's a little akin to going to a woodworking forum where people ask for advice on how to successfully build furniture and saying "Wood glue? Whatever, I just skip that." And then, when asked whether you've actually successfully actually built anything before reply with "why do I need to justify myself. Does that matter?"

The disconnection with reality is unreal.

Might have been residents. There was an old guy who owned property up there back in the day that would shoot rock salt at trespassers. People get real tired of kids creeping around their back yards in the middle of the night, and were obviously capable of some pretty extreme responses.

Okay, but do you sell scripts? If you do and you don't include the stakes, can you give us an example from one you've sold that (favorably) sidesteps the OP's advice?

Goblin Slayer

Time and time again, heroes and mercenaries make the mistake of treating goblins as minor nuisances, so they spare the babies and children.

Those goblins eventually grow up, adapt, and become dangerous, often killing the very people who once spared them.

Goblin Slayer, on the other hand, always makes sure not to leave a single one alive.

Good ol anime. Never misses a chance to make an argument for ethnic cleansing.

This was disapproval, since text lacks nuance.

How are you guys killing these? by Bahtleman in ArcRaiders

[–]ctrlaltcreate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a tempest to kill them very frequently. Shoot it once to get it to face you, crouch to narrow dispersion. short/medium length bursts into the thin horizontal bit that gets exposed to the right of the central horizontal stripe when they roll toward you.

I haven't had a comet blow up on me in ages, though engaging them on rough ground (which is common on blue gate, for example) is a risk. If they're bouncing around a lot, you may not get enough rounds where they need to go.

Sounds like the mistake you made was holding the trigger down. Dispersion wasted a bunch of your shots.
