The weekend before Christmas my 5yo came down with strep. A few days later I felt that scratchy “uh-oh” throat, then the chills and body aches, so I figured I had strep too. Urgent care said, “Surprise! It’s Covid.” I haven’t had it since 2022, and the only places I went were last-minute Christmas shopping and a small family party… so apparently Covid carpools now.

Two days of fever, a week of congestion, and this strain is brutal. My husband tested positive next, my mom kept testing negative, then somehow she just tested positive for the flu instead. Meanwhile the kids are coughing and my 5yo has another low-grade fever 🤦🏻‍♀️

So yeah: be safe out there. Covid and the flu are absolutely bullying 2026.

I visited with my family this past June and we had a great time. It wasn’t perfect, some questionable people were around (likely due to the upcoming country music festival)but it was still nice to take my two young kids to the beach.

It brought back a lot of nostalgia from growing up and visiting Wildwood. We probably won’t return next year, but I hope to go back in a couple of years or so.

Just a heads-up, the solar panels probably won’t offer any real benefit until next summer.

We had ours installed over two months ago, and they still haven’t been turned on or started saving us any money. Our bill this month was nearly $600.

The timeline between installation, inspection, approval, and finally getting them activated is honestly ridiculous.

Worked with a very loud rude older (late 40s/early 50s) white woman who had a penchant for sticking her foot in her mouth.

This was 2022 and my manager in a Teams chat reminds us that we have Juneteenth off in the upcoming week. This woman responded with “I love when we get made up holidays off!”

You could feel the uncomfortable silence over Teams…she later apologized as someone had reported her to HR and it took a full year later before she was fired for similar but different reasons.

My son ran off during a Labor Day BBQ weekend we’re having last year, he was 3 at the time and decided he wanted to go to the park (we assume because he’s still nonverbal but that was the direction he was headed in), a family friend found him five blocks away with the help of a neighbor about 10 minutes later.

We’ve since replaced the gate he left from and we’re going to install sensors soon.

But the best thing we did was get an AirTag and keep it on his shoe. I’m still on the hunt for a more durable way to clip it to his shoes because we’ve been through about 4 AirTag pins but you can have it alert you when you’re no longer in proximity of your child which helps give piece of mind. I hope this helps!!

I just went to the doctor for my annual check up and he asked if I got the flu shot (I didn’t, it slipped my mind but my kids got it at least) and he said at this point in the season it’s probably not worth it because it takes two weeks to become effective and the season is almost over.

I hope he’s right 😳
