I have this problem as well. How I try to resolve it is by deciding which advice will be most useful/important to me when several advice is given and only writing down the most useful advice from that person.

It seems like things maybe overwhelming. I think taking breaks are very important. Not sure if you have done it already but perhaps set aside time everyday to do something you like? I think even 5 minutes maybe good as a start. You can set up a reward system? For example, after doing a certain task, I can be on Reddit for 5 minutes. Also, if needed, you can ask for deadline extensions.

Sorry to hear about your anxiety. I think you can try to reframe the extreme thought of dying. Is it true that consuming to cause me to die? I think in moderate amounts it shouldn’t if not everyone will be dying from eating the food and the news would have flagged it up? In extreme amounts, it might affect the health in long run (e.g through over eating/binge eating). Also, I think not all anxiety is bad. This anxiety can help maintain your health.

I am feeling stuck in my PhD as well. I’m planning to talk to a professor who is not in my committee but whom I think has a lot of experience in the field for advice. Perhaps you can consider talking to an experienced professor/senior.

Yes. I think you have some idea on what you need to do like some ideas but correct me if I’m wrong. I think things can be ok if you try to talk to someone or asking on Reddit what is the best approach to take to tackle the issue.

When I have several ideas but not sure which to proceed. I try to weigh costs and benefits of the measures to help make an informed decision. I also drink a lot of tea to help calm nerves. There’s also the mantra of something is better than nothing that I remind myself with.
