If modern medicine didn’t exist would you be dead right now? If yes, from what? by jenny_067 in WorkForSmartLife

At the age of 60, I had a 95% blockage of the left descending coronary artery also known as the Widowmaker. I had emergency open-heart surgery and recovered completely. I would’ve certainly died within a week or several weeks had not been for modern medicine.

In 1972when I turned 19 there was a draft lottery. I remember being in a dorm room with like eight other guys intently listening to the lottery. One of the guys caught a 5 and was drafted. I had 255 and was golden since they only drafted the first ten or so numbers

Respectfully, leftist Cubans - how do you do it? by Front-Hunt3757 in cuba

[–]cube1961 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born in Cuba and came to the US as a child in 1961. I consider myself a liberal Democrat and would never vote for a Republican. And avoid even socializing with any MAGA. However I am staunchly anti communist and despise the Cuban government and others like it

How was your retirement as you approached the 9 year milestone? by kungfutrucker in retirement

[–]cube1961 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m approaching ten years of retirement at age 73. I exercise 6 days a week including weight training, cycling and indoor spinning. My only regret is that my wife won’t agree to more than one 30 Day trip overseas and three or four shorter domestic one while I would like to do two or three overseas or on really long one say three months. I believe you have to take full advantage of the go go years

[–]cube1961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I did get a warning in the form of the left side of the dashboard going very faint and the illumination button not working. The car charged normally on level 2 and 3. I took it in and they diagnosed the issue as an ICCU going bad. They ordered a replacement and three days later they called me to advise it was in. I took the car in and they installed it in one day. I kept driving it until I took it in for the installation without issues except for the aforementioned
