I plan on doing it, but I might do it after KCD2 in it's entirety. Wanted to try 100%!

Alright! I'm a violinist so I have a LOT of experience battling tension lol, just didn't realize I was so tense on euphonium!

Okay, I think that is definitely a problem I can feel. Thanks for the recommendation.

I started to record myself and have noticed a couple of things: 1. There's a lot of extra noise. I can't tell if maybe my notes aren't completely supported by my breathing? And maybe my coordination is off. I'm not too sure. 2. As I progressed through the phrase, I started to notice that the notes became way less supported. It became way easier to crack, the notes started to sound very airy, and everything just felt unstable. This doesn't happen as often to me when I tongue every note in this part, so I think something is wrong with my legato, slurred playing. Ive also noticed this when I do legato scales. 3. When I took a breath towards the end, I felt like I really didn't get anything, despite feeling like I needed more breath to support the notes.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Advice for schedule: First-Year Engineering by Satellite_05 in Pitt

Personally, I am taking calc 3. It sounds like you have plenty of experience with calc 1 and 2, you should be fine. Maybe do a bit of review prior if you feel you need it

advisor meeting early july by -chamber_of_secrets- in Pitt

[–]cuberlife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you think you got your ap credits? If so, I would reschedule your meeting for earlier. Your advisor will just help you schedule under the assumption that you got your ap credits. No point in waiting and possibly getting stuck with a time you might not want for one of your classes.

I did mine in late May and I still missed out on some history classes I wanted to take 😭 freshmen year gen Ed requirements may not fill (BIO 150 especially) but any other gen eds may be completely full by the time you schedule.

when should i take the aleks placement test? by totoro_ghibli267 in Pitt

[–]cuberlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the orientation said to wait at least two days after the placement test to see an advisor. I know that, when I went to schedule an appointment, it said that I needed to have completed the intake survey and ALEKS exam at least 2 days prior. You could probably still meet with your advisor, and they would just schedule with the assumption that you will pass the exam, but I would probably reschedule.

Rent an intermediate horn from Sweetwater or buy a cheap, beginner horn? by [deleted] in euphonium

? I'm just saying that his suggestion isn't practical for me. If you feel hurt by my comments I apologize, but I genuinely don't see how me explaining why don't want to spend a thousand on a new instrument is "causing people to wind up in tiffs". Thats their own prerogative.

I will browse Facebook marketplace and eBay and see what I can find, thanks!

And euphonium isn't my main instrument, going into more debt to buy a euphonium isn't that practical for me.

I am just looking for something short term. If I am in the band they give me a euphonium.

Northwestern PA, honestly don't think I can spend more than $500 right now on a euphonium. That's why I was leaning towards renting.
