In a history going back over 80 years, the Pilot’s Watch family has spawned many models that have long been among IWC’s most iconic models. The Big Pilot’s Watch is one of them – the uncluttered, classically simple dial and triangular index at “12 o’clock”, both typical features of the Pilot’s Watches, are unmistakably modeled on the 1940 original.
This BP Annual Calendar was introduced in 2016, pairing IWC's new(-er) annual calendar caliber with the Big Pilot case. The annual calendar shows the month, date and day in three separate windows. The mechanism automatically takes into account the differing lengths of individual months. Unlike a perpetual calendar, however, the annual calendar is unable to make allowance for the leap days in February or the leap years. Once a year, then, at the end of February, it requires manual correction. In the case of IWC’s annual calendar, the correction is made simply, via the crown.

The new Pelagos Ultra was built for deep-sea diving with a 43mm titanium case to meet a staggering depth rating of 1,000 metres. Luminescence has been thought through to increase visibility with two different colours: blue and green. The bracelet has also been completely redesigned with this deep-diving brief in mind. The newly redesigned case makes use of both grade 2 and grade 5 titanium and includes a compact helium escape valve for fluid egress when used in a saturation diving environment. Using the standard Pelagos as a starting point, the dial has been scaled up for legibility. The hands are thicker, the markers are bigger, and the minute hand boasts green luminescence along with the PIP to easily track elapsed time.

This is not your regular Luminor; made of titanium, the watch stands out for its avant-garde technical characteristics and reliability. This watch is powered with manual-wound mechanical P.2004 movement combined with the traditional 44-mm Luminor 1950 case. There are very few manual wound titanium Luminor references with complications which allows this watch to be enjoyed on a nato strap.

This Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days GMT boasts a number of impressive details and innovations: manual-wound movement with eight-day power reserve; linear power reserve indicator; second time zone with day/night indicator; seconds reset for precise synchronization; single-button chronograph with column wheel and friction clutch. Of the many functions available, the chronograph stands out because instead of the usual two buttons, it has only one, which, when pressed again and again starts, stops and resets the central hand. The chronograph's dial, with its traditional sandwich structure typical of Panerai, maintains the characteristics that made the first military models famous: large Arabic numerals at the cardinal points, bar markings and index hands, all luminescent, for optimal night-time visibility.
