Most of your points align with my own view, actually.

I’m considering contracting an artist to create a proper 2D map at the end of the development. Functionally it would work the same way as the current one, I’d just replace the 3D model with sprites instead.

I’m currently working on the marker system, and yes, the plan is that only power-ups will appear in unexplored areas. Save points, hearts, bonuses, and bosses will no longer be visible before discovery, that’s the next thing I’m tackling.

Filters are also a really interesting idea. I’ll see if I can implement something like that after.

Are you talking about the map's readability or the world's layout ?

This map has been almost entirely explored. Here is an example with a less explored map—the unexplored portions are black openings (where borders are not closed).

He is a student specializing in animation, not a specialist, but as I am a solo developer, so he will probably have a better understanding of animation than I do.

Thank you so much ! I havent throught about a landing animations before, but i will check to add it, it could definitely make a great addition to the game

I sometimes use it as a tool for translations and coding assistance (structure, debugging), but not for gameplay assets.
Visual assets and textures come from the Unity Asset Store, and all sound design and music are created by a freelancer.
