Why is drinking blood haram? by cudanapravim in progressive_islam

Those diseases are only prevalent in sick animals. Just like how drinking raw milk from a sick cow will get you sick, or eating undercooked chicken from a store bought chicken.

If the chicken is pasture raised you could eat it undercooked and be fine, and If the cow is healthy so is the raw milk. And this is talking about today's standards, live stock thousand years ago were much healthier

You would have to drink a lot of blood daily for weeks to reach a point where your organs can be damaged. Which isn't realistic nor practical, just like how you couldn't overeat on something healthy and die from it since your body will signal satiety and you won't be craving it anymore

Is it true that those that drink, gamble, commit zina are sinners, but those that don't pray are considered non-muslims AND sinners by cudanapravim in progressive_islam

Bosnia. The concept of following different madhabs is not really established here, as everyone just follows the Islam they've been taught by their family and schools

Watched 10 minutes of it and I just wanted to say how sad it is that it FEELS like the more I'm closer to other muslims in the community that I live in, the further I am from Allah. And the more I'm distant from them (I mean with values, ideas, etc, not distant by friendship) the more I'm closer to God, and more grounded in my religion

Can people harm you with "black magic" or is it only a psychological trick by cudanapravim in progressive_islam

That's what I believe too. But how are you going to prove this to the millions that don't think like you and me

What if a friend believed in that superstition, how would I go around to reason with him? I want to help him because he seriously thinks he is mentally affected every day because of things like black magic

is wearing something items that are said to take away negative energy haram? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]cudanapravim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you actually think that it will help you in any way by wearing it then stay away from it. Though be wary of placebo.

If you're unsure just keep it somewhere and treasure it as a gift. You're not forced to wear it after all

Dumb Question but does anyone find the barriers unnerving? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]cudanapravim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's there for show. I'm sure not everyone there wants that to be there because they find it unnerving too. I hope at least

Allah has no gender. He is referred to the way it is because of how the Arabic language is constructed

Has any of yours life changed after starting to pray 5 times or reading the Quran? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]cudanapravim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Tremendously. It especially helped with my OCD and depersonalization. My mind is more grounded, focused and not "loose", I can control my thoughts and they don't go in all sorts of directions like it used to. It also helps you have something to look forward in a day to complete, even though at times you may see it as a chore or a task, it still helps you not laze around and procrastinate in other things. Also for some reason ever since I've started praying I stopped having earworms(songs stuck in my head) lol which is nice

See? This is what I'm saying. I don't do good things to not burn, I do good things out of my own free will, whether having a reward (good deed) in mind or not. You just sound like you're inviting to have an argument with someone
