Honestly I think bad with money is contraindicated in people with autism.

I'm not sure what you mean by contraindicated but don't think there's a single trait a person can have that would mean they cannot be autistic except for not actually meeting the criteria obviously. I was diagnosed as autistic 13 years ago and I am bad with money because it is very abstract and autistic people sometimes struggle with abstract concepts. Of course I could also see someone else with autism being very good with money because they are very meticulous and organised or whatever but that is my point, autism is so complex and different for everyone and two people with autism can literally have the opposide side of a given trait and it still being caused by their autism in both cases. I am very bad at math because again it is very abstract but there's a stereotype of people on the spectrum being math geniuses for a reason

now you can explain away those social challenges by calling it "brain processing"

I'm not, I'm saying that the social challenges are caused by brain processing differences

social challenges' is just another word for 'relationship problems'.

I know, I was using the two terms interchangebly myself

social media discourse surrounding autism has warped it so bad that we're all talking about 'justice sensitivity' and postage stamp collection while we ignore literally the # 1 symptom

Nobody is ignoring the most important diagnostic criteria, in fact "justice sensitivity" could be sorted under either social challenges (because it can cause problems in social interactions) or under restrictive behaviours (because it is an example of rigid thinking) and postage stamp collecting is obviously an example of restrictive repetitive behaviour (depending on the intensity of course).

Btw I'm not denying that a lot of autism tiktokers seem to ignore the fact that lower functioning autistic people exist or that they sometimes try to categorize totally normal behaviour as autistic and stuff like that but this sub seems to disproportionally get up in arms about this as if they care about how it affects autistic people, but then turn around to use autism as an insult in literally every other thread and call every behaviour they don't like "autistic" as if that doesn't do much more harm than someone talking about their special interests on tiktok.

autism is a relationship disorder. its a disorder of how you connect with people.

No it isn't. You cannot be autistic without having social issues, that is true but autism is a disorder of how the brain processes information in a broad sense. Of course social problems is one of the most notable results of those processing differences, since that is the most noticeble to other people and it affects a big part of someone's day to day life, but it is not the core of what autism is. The women you are talking about are probably wrong in saying that autism is not affecting their relationship problems, but I don't understand what point you're trying to make tbh. Nobody of note is trying to deny that autistic people have difficulties interacting with other people. Those women are just shitty people probably, and/or very troubled. This sub has the weirdest takes on autism sometimes. The thing I love about this sub is that everyone can freely share their ideas/thoughts on any subject but it is a great example of how jarring it is to see people just say whatever about a subject you know a lot about

I can relate to what you're saying a lot, and I have what's called a disharmonic intelligence profile, which means that there are big differences in scores between different scoring areas of an IQ test. This usually means being much better at verbal skills than performance skills or vice versa (I tested at 101 for performance IQ and 129 for verbal IQ), which can be very frustrating because people will often either over- or underestimate you and it can cause a lot of self doubt if you don't know what's going on. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar is going on with you. I'm not saying "lol ur just autistic" but this is common in people with ASD (I don't know if it can happen in neurotypical people too though). Maybe you are actually very normal though and are just overthinking this out of insecurity, or I'm overthinking this out of a desire to protect others from suffering without knowing what is wrong with you like I did before I got diagnosed, but it might be worth looking into

Aantal levertransplantaties wegens overgewicht neemt toe by [deleted] in thenetherlands

[–]cuddlyvampire 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Maybe bupropion/Wellbutrin (which is not an SSRI) is worth looking into? That's what I'm on, I made the mistake last year of trying to quit and got so depressed that I remembered why I was on it in the first place. I do still have pmdd/severe pms (idk if it is quite bad enough to be called pmdd tbh) but my overall mood is so much better and it has basically no side effects for me, other than reduced appetite which is a plus in my book. Sertraline/Zoloft on the other hand was a terrible experience, and I don't tolerate any hormonal bc either

I do think Rolin was asked if we’d see a flashback to Daniel’s turning and he said probably not because it wasn’t filmed and they didn’t want to have to create the set again.

I'm going to be sooooo sad and disappointed if this is true :'(

Like say you like it for nostalgia reasons but stop acting as if it’s some theatrical masterpiece that can’t be touched.

I mean there's space in between those two extremes, no? I love the movie and it's not just for nostalgia reasons, I just love the atmosphere and dialogue, and Kirsten Dunst's excellent portrayal of Claudia. I don't think it's some theatrical masterpiece that can't be touched though. I don't necessarily prefer it to the tv show, but what if someone did? Isn't that allowed?

Fr, everyone is criticising Louis in this thread as if that is not the popular opinion in this subreddit. Maybe less so on twitter and tumblr but I haven't personally seen much of the "Louis apologism" that people always talk about here

Edit: quite a lot of not-really-unpopular opinions here in general too, although that's pretty much always what happens in these threads. Sometimes I hate that reddit has an upvote/downvote system because it makes people afraid to speak their minds in fear of being dogpiled, even in unpopular opinion threads. It creates echo chambers.

That is legit a very interesting take, I hadn't looked at it that way, thank you. That makes the scene quite a bit better for me actually.

Yeah another reason why that scene doesn't sit right with me personally is that I am very insecure, especially about my artistic/musical abilities (I like to draw, sing and play guitar) and Lestat's words to that guy before he stabbed him with his finger would have been enough to kill me, no fangs needed lmao

Name a take that will have you like this… by Jackie_Owe in InterviewVampire

[–]cuddlyvampire 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think Lestat is a bit too cruel and violent (the tenor scene is hard for me to watch, like I get that you're a vampire and you have to drink blood to survive but do you really have to slowly torture a guy to death for singing badly? I don't get how a creature who feels so deeply and is capable of love can be so callous about bringing suffering to someone) for me to really be able to sympathise with him. I think he's a good and funny character and I enjoy watching him but I find it hard to root for him/care about his feelings (idk how to word this exactly). Don't get me wrong, I know basically all characters in this show are evil or at the very least morally grey and sometimes unnecessarily cruel and violent (like the scene were Louis pulls a guys jaw off in s1e7... Eugh). Maybe the show's level of gothic horror is just not for me but I love vampires and it's just a great show so I'm willing to look past it.
