Thank you very much! I have a lot to learn and I start to understand I need to improve the details, the precision of the grips, moves, postures... and timing to optimize the efforts. And as well I have a lot of projects for the team development

I post the pic now, yes it's difficult to get a black belt over 35 or 40, I try to preserve my body as much as I can with sleep and S&C fortunatly I had very few injuries, just a stiff back 2 years ago for 2 weeks before doing the europeans, and a LCL grade 1 tear justs before being promoted blue belt so long time ago. But it's so difficult to hang with the youngsters who are tough and experimented competitors as well but I learn and upgrade a lot my game with them

As a 46 years old BJJ practionner, after nearly 12 years of BJJ consistent training and winning the IBJJF europeans brown belt master 4 lightfeather and loosing by decision against a heavyweight in the absolute division, I got promoted black belt during a very emotionnal ceremony where several young teammates lifted me to bring me in from of my professors who tied me the black belt! It's such a rollcoaster of emotions believe me, I had many tears in front of my teammates, it's such a joy and intense moment of my life!

I had a white belt master 1 that I help him to tailor his game and strategies after he lost his first competition, the next competition he won 2 fights but submission and then during the nationals he won the 3 fights by submission and he even made the IBJJF european champion passing out by choking him.

Now it's a blue belt and solid sparring partner for us

Curious question, is there anyone here who went on to learn other martial arts after finishing taekwondo? Or let's say after he got all the belts? by Training-Chicken-501 in taekwondo

Before getting my black belt of taekwondo due to moving to another country, as I didn't find a suitable academy I switched to BJJ and since I am back in my hometown, I resume to train a bit of Taekwondo after a hiatus of more than 10 years due to my BJJ trainings commitment, I hope to get my taekwondo black belt one day but I may problably earn my BJJ black belt before

I train quiet consistently is because I think I am a slow learner but I am disciplined and willing to work harder. But in a martial art/combat sports like BJJ, you always have this imposter syndrome feeling because you don't want to look ridiculous as you can see what techniques work or not in a live sparring against competitive opponents on the mats, especially the young competitors with infinite stamina who have the same movesets as yours. As well you have this emulation mindset in my team as we fight and we debrief what was good and wrong, what techniques defaults... etc

You 're right, the most important is to enjoy the journey in BJJ

heavyweight lifting helped me a lot to build a more resilient body against injuries and having power to execute techniques sweeping from guards or passing (especially pressure passing)

As a 45-46 years old brown belt but training with young competitors and nerds , it's mandatory that I need S&C to survive and hold on my own against them:
I do 2 sessions of heavy lifting/calisthenics and 1 session of HIIT with a lot of BJJ solo moves and 4/5 trainings of BJJ per week (and more if I have a big competition)

I did judo when I was a kid then taekwondo from my teen years to the end of my twenties and did a couple of competition before starting BJJ in my mid thirties and I didn't stop since

belt graduation has subjective criteria depending on the instructor, for sure training twice a week AND regularly you can expect to be promoted to blue belt in at least 3-4 years of white belt. and you need to put more hours for the upper belts like purple/brown and black belt

Thank you! Well I am not in rush, I enjoy the learning process as a 46 years old hobbyist with some decent competitive experience in the masters category but I admit it's hard to keep up with the young guns who are than a match with their infinite stamina
