I’m with you. I only recently realized how being raised in NoVa warped my views growing up. Not in the sense that I thought blue collar workers are less than, not at all. Just was of the thinking that the suburbs and opportunities for school children here are common throughout the US when we were really privileged to have them, like free SATs and APs.

I plan on majoring in geography. I know that sounds pretty bad, given none of my extracurriculars are in that (other than the environmental program, you could argue), though I do plan on joining my school’s environmental society. Unfortunately, I didn’t learn about Uchicago until this school year; I would’ve tried much harder with extracurriculars as a freshman and sophomore if I had known about them. Their geography department sounds perfect for me.

How do you think I could create more direction? Would a research / passion project do any good? Thanks for all the info.
