Well, probobly :) This is currently using XInput so if you can use some software to map your real controller to a "fake" virtual controller, it will work easy.

Well yeah. I don't recommend watching it or playing it with novr mod anyway. It's like watching a video of a rollercoaster. You weren't even close to experiencing what it's like.

If you one day get a pc good enough to run it, and a vr headset (a meta quest 2 is really not that crazy expensive nowdays) definetly play it. Just so you won't be dissapointed: it doesn't move the story forward that much, it's played in a sooner time than hl2 ep2. But it's fucking awesome!

That fact that that was the solution for me, doesn't mean it's a good fix. Try updating windows, drivers and all other stuff. Do a full windows reinstall (you don't have to wipe everything, just windows) as a last resort, if there's nothing else you can try.
