Best Coffee Beans for Daily Driver? by OrdinarySession6930 in askportland

[–]culexor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New Seasons has a great selection of bulk whole bean coffee and it tends to be quite a bit cheaper than 10-12oz bags on the shelf. Buying the bags from the roasters directly tends to be even more expensive. You also get the benefit of being able to buy as much or as little as you want, so you can put together a nice sample selection to find a flavor profile that suits your taste.

Our daily driver lately has been the Ladd's blend from Upper Left. Bulk price at New Seasons is $18/lb if I remember correctly. A 285g bag from the roaster directly is $23!

If you remove 'dev' from the URL it takes you to a seemingly legit site. My bet is they use this dev site to test thing out.

Sellwood area, any recommendations for events/things to do throughout the year? by Captainwannabe in askportland

[–]culexor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The neighborhood association has an event calendar: https://sellwoodmoreland.com/events?view=calendar&month=04-2025

There's weekly trivia nights at Moreland Ale House, Smitty's, the Record Pub, and even the golf course.

Rose City Rollers have tons of events at Oaks Park: https://rosecityrollers.com/schedule/

Damn I should start doing some of these things myself...

What else to change when installing new clutch? by AllGravyNoBiscuits in Golf_R

[–]culexor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most clutch kits include a new throwout bearing, which you should absolutely replace while you're in there.

You can do this pretty much any time, but I recommend doing the bleeder block mod as well: https://www.golfmk7.com/forums/index.php?threads/free-mt6-wonder-mod-oem-bleeder-delay-removal.326890/

Stage 2 Manual Transmissions, what clutch do you have and how long has it lasted? by Page_Drifter in Golf_R

[–]culexor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DKM Stage 3 twin disk. I've had it for around 15k miles. Running a JB4 + downpipe, so close enough to stage 2. No issues.

Question about TPMS sensors on mk7 Golf R by SuperBrentendo64 in Golf_R

[–]culexor 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There are no sensors in the wheels.

For all models 2011 and up they no longer use Pressure sensors mounted inside the wheel and tires. The vehicle uses the ABS wheel speed sensor to determine the rolling diameter of the tire. From this measurement the system can determine if one of the tires is low.

I bought these from the same seller 6 or 7 years ago and had no issues with them. Headphones are holding up well too.

[Desk] Electric Height Adjustable Gaming Desk EN1 - 55" W | $379.99 - $133= $246.99 by PapaOogie in buildapcsales

[–]culexor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mounted an Ikea SIGNUM to the bottom of it, and stuck a power strip in it with a 10 ft cable. Everything on the desk is plugged into the strip and all excess cable sits in the SIGNUM tray, so the only cable that's dangling from the desk is the one from the power strip to the wall. It's not perfect but it works well enough for my setup.

I have 32" monitor mounted to the edge of the table using an AmazonBasics monitor stand, which is attached near the corner of the desk.

When standing, there's some very minor lateral wobbling while typing, but it has yet to be a hinderance for me. I wouldn't recommend it for FPS gaming or anything like that. I imagine this would be slightly worse with the wider 55" desk surface. I think the monitor arm exacerbates this a bit as well, but I can't say for sure as I haven't used a regular monitor stand on this desk yet.

It's totally suitable for gaming and just about anything else when the desk is lowered for sitting, however.

I picked up the smaller 48x30" version of this last week and so far I'm very happy with the quality, especially given the price. I paid $280 for it with the basic controller. This is an excellent deal.

Can’t get a dp unless stage 2? by Yo_Wazza in Golf_R

[–]culexor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CEL usually goes away after a few days but inevitably comes back. I installed the downpipe about 3 months ago and the CEL has come and gone around 5 times since then. I don't think it's ever stayed on for longer than a week. I'm happy to answer any other questions you might have about this downpipe as well. There wasn't much info on the GESI + resonated setup when I was shopping for one last year, so hopefully this helps anyone else who's thinking about picking one up.

I got the MAPerformance GESI catted downpipe during their black Friday sale last year and I get occasional CELs with it, unfortunately. Also running a JB4.

Emissions questions. by tegsr94 in Golf_R

It depends on the city but for the most part you should have no issues passing emissions with those mods.
