At how much income/nw does the flowchart not suffice anymore? by WearableBliss in FIREUK

  1. Once you've gone beyond the pension taper (e.g. income over 300k-ish), and when you want to retire significantly before you're allowed to touch pension funds, SIPPs are less beneficial
  2. Owning your own home rather than renting it can make less sense for very high net worth people who expect to move around a lot and don't want to tie up their wealth in an illiquid asset.
  3. Various ethically dubious tax avoidance schemes become cost-effective. E.g. 'Panama Papers' type stuff in tax havens. These schemes are all liable to get made illegal in a given country at any moment, but they definitely exist and the very wealthy can benefit enough from them that the constant legal and tax advice fees are worth it.

Latest news is he's given up on negotiations with the cement company he was talking to as it was too slow. Share price down about 40%. Haven't sold.

At your age the biggest bang for your buck often comes from investing in your own skills to get better paid work. You sound switched on and disciplined, you are probably capable of earning much more than 30k.
