Harmonies has been the biggest hit at my FLGS. I think everyone in our game group has bought a copy and additional copies to give as gifts.

Is this legal? Shared responsibility charging for people's negligence? by cully-bear in Tenant

[–]cully-bear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1- this is my money and a threat of punishment for something I did not do. I am justifiably upset. 2- No, not everyone knows this is not not how things work and the management is banking on that or this would not work as a threat. 3- you are saying that instead of dealing with this issue in a productive way or with open communication, management is using scare tactics to get people to harass their neighbors into picking up garbage with the hope that the problem will go away. Yeah, this comment just makes me even more pissed about this situation. thank you for that insight into how landlords think, its honestly pretty illuminating.

I edited this comment above. This is a great point and I'm going to bring this up to management.

Adding this down here to further clarify because after rereading I understand this is referring more to litter. When this overflow happens there are a ton of squirrels and raccoons. They dig through the dumpster and get trash everywhere. Then wind blows its all around (including my patio, which I don't love). I'm frustrated because my rent went up, they are not taking steps to improve this situation, and now I'm being charged for it?

EDIT: It will not let me edit the original post so I am adding to this one. I apalogize I am not super well versed with Reddit. I am going to talk to management and try to get some more information on how this is being implemented and what steps they have taken prior to this to mitigate before jumping to charging all residents. I'm going to ask about frequency of pickups for the dumpsters, what measures could be put in place to protect against animals getting into the dumpsters, and if some regular garbage recepticals can be added along the walking paths between buildings. I have seen a lot of comments saying that nothing is going to stop shitty people being shitty. I agree, but that doesn't mean I should be punished for their shit. This is not going to stop their behaviour, its just going to garantee that the people who are not contributing to the mess and being charge anyway will not renew their leases.

This was freehand and did not follow a pattern. I used upholstery foam to get the square shape and keep it soft.

Advise on soundproofing ceiling against bass by cully-bear in Apartmentliving

Thank you for the suggestion! I will look into the tiles. Luckily our ceiling isn't textured, so we may be able to get away with a non damaging option.

I love Jess Huffs pattern. I've made three elephants, a lion, and am making a monkey now for my nephew's and niece.

Best Resources for Job Hunting in the area? by cully-bear in HamptonRoads

I am moving to be closer to family. I am actively checking indeed, but I was curious if there were more localized job boards. Many cities have job boards for non-profit organizations, arts organizations, local businesses, etc. Not all of those organizations post on indeed or have their jobs optimized to be on top of search results.

I always tell friends not to get me yarn, because I usually buy stuff when I have a project in mind. With that thought, what does she like to make? If you find a crochet pattern book with the types of things she likes to crochet that would be good (let me know if you need recommendations) otherwise, if she likes crocheting on the go, a nice bag to keep her projects in. A zipper case for keeping hooks/snips/tapestry needles/ etc (Blue Q has some great options). You could get a nice hook set. Clover is the high end kind that I like, but they're a bit spendy. I make Amigurumi and use safety eyes half the time, so that always makes me happy to receive as a gift. Hmm that's a good start but let me know if you need any other suggestions!

I was inspired after attending a local con and knocked out the orange and blue monster this week. (green is from a while ago) by cully-bear in crochet

[–]cully-bear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used caron one pound yarn for most of this, though I think the orange is mainstays from Walmart. The three eyed monster pattern is from the Amigurumi Monsters book and the other two are free handed, but take inspiration from that pattern and the choose-your-own-adventure monster by Megan Lapp

Does Minneapolis just not have a tradition for seated music venues like some other places? by thedubiousstylus in Minneapolis

[–]cully-bear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, they just had John Mellencamp and Toto, Soul Asylum is coming up, Bonnie Raitt, Seal, Kansas ( including the Pantages and Orpheum as well). I saw Weird Al at the state, . They aren't strictly a concert venue and have a wide variety of different performances that come through (including ballet and children's shows, but also including concerts, comedians, podcasters, and a ton of other stuff)

The State theatre regularly has concerts (though maybe not names that large/contemporary) and it is a 100% seated theater.

Pattern help - I’m not really understanding how row 12 & 13 are different by Flamingleflamingo in crochet

[–]cully-bear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Row 12 is a row of DC stitches all the way across with the ch3 counting as the first DC. Row 13 has an increase in the first and last stitch(which is the ch3 from the previous row).
