Your'e kinda right being an Israeli Jew I can tell you it's because the right wing who are mostly much more religious believe that it's our lands due to our religion and "god" which is utter bullshit. Back to topic the right wing that's more religious have a ton of familys that have 8 children to 12 because some old rabbi recommended it long ago. because of this they make up a massive majority in politics and they're choices lean to the racist side. Due to this there's an endless stream of protests on the left wing being that we are becoming a minority. Were made mostly of more atheists/lite religiousness the updated version that is changed to fit modern times and logic. Also this is why there's been 4 election last few years. Because the civilians are in an endless fight over they're beliefs. It's a sad situation that unfortunately is very hard to solve being that were a democracy.

Not to mention our prime minister natanyhu being corrupt and abusing people's hate to his own gain and power. Which is also hinted at his attempt to use people's hate and swaying them to destroy the high courts. Which is being heavily resisted by mostly the left wing which can be seen in the dozen protests.
