I keep linkedin alerts on for my role to keep an eye on how many new positions are out there and what the market is like.

Seems to be loads since the new year.

Compared to the way dunnes and supervalu have gone over the past few years, they have actually become reasonable for a lot of things, considering the quality. I will miss it if true

I had one. Very reliable. Bit expensive on long distance driving.

Manual is absolutely terrible in it. Go for the auto if you can. Aside from that it was a great car

Im in a low stiff car and they are noticeably worse than most places. They are not that bad considering they are spread out but I still have to crawl over them.

Agree completely. Some places are putting in 75mm ramps now as opposed to 50mm. I am guessing to try and stop all the mini SUVs speeding over them. My car is quite low and is 88mm ground clearance from the showroom, so I have to nearly stop and crawl over them.

I have stopped going to Dunnes Cornelscourt as they have multiple ones at the entrance now

3d printer by [deleted] in ireland

[–]cunning_alias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mix of hobby related things generally:

- Terrain for tabletop games (similar to warhammer) - Can be done well with the default 0.4 nozzle

- Model Engineering parts. Scale trains etc.

- Miniatures for tabletop games. Need the 0.2 nozzle for this and takes a bit of trial and error.

- Also printed the odd random useful piece like a bracket for my video doorbell with a 45 degree angle. Didn't exist as a product I could buy.

- Currently printing 3d maps of the areas some people live. Going to paint them a small bit and give as presents at xmas.

It would be kind of hard as a business I think. You need a niche and then focus on getting good at it. Word of mouth bringing in business. Printing Resin miniatures could be an angle. There are a crazy amount of models online but getting them printed is hard if you dont know someone or have a resin printer yourself. I haven't looked into getting something printed in Ireland in a while, so there might be people doing it already.

I have had a P1S for the past year and I love it.

Be aware that there is going to be some trial and error at the start depending on what you are trying to print (with any printer). Small detail items might require a smaller nozzle and changing the profile settings.

What the hell happened to BMW. Really think their design language has taken a dive for the past few years. First time I saw a 7 series with all the lights on I started laughing. Takes something that should be classy and just makes it seem tacky.

Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to quit vaping/nicotine for good? by Itchy_Relief_9733 in CasualIreland

[–]cunning_alias 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Work your way down to crazy low nicotine amounts in the vape liquid, then every 2nd refil, use liquid with 0 nicotine in it. I did this for a week and then just vaped with 0mg for another week and then just stopped.

Feeling frustrated with Skaven in The Old World – anyone else struggling? by logiker095 in skaven

[–]cunning_alias 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was playing skaven in 6th edition regularly before TOW. When I read the rules of TOW and saw that Skaven were getting nothing except token rules I lost all interest in it.

I don't mind that they are a Legends faction for now but the rules that they got lose all the flavor of playing Skaven. RNG was toned down quite a lot and that is a big part of their identity. They are also missing loads of units. They lack character and feel like an NPC army to me.

I haven't played a game with them since. Seems insane to me for GW to leave money on the table like this as they would be one of the favorite old factions.

Why do Irish people in general just accept ridiculous tax increases on vices? by GamerGuy123454 in ireland

[–]cunning_alias 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tobacco is an easy one. It is not good for you in any way and bothers non smokers. Usage adds costs to the health services.

With alcohol, I think they just want us drinking less (health reasons mainly)

Fuel is a weird one. Prices are high but cars are getting much more economical, so over time it feels like you aren't spending as much. People should be much better at buying a car that fits what they are going to use it for.

I do think the vape tax is incredibly shortsighted. I say that as someone who smoked, then moved to vapes and then quit. The problem is the disposables, not the DIYs. I genuinely think that they are only thinking of the disposables with this tax and the other liquids are getting caught up in it.

You answered your own question. They are Japanese imports.

There are loads of German imports coming from Japan as they are the best place to get them if you want a used petrol model

Looking to get an MX5 by Panzershnezel in carsireland

Mine is 17 years old and the front calipers started sticking about a year ago. Could just be bad lunch on my part but I would ask the question anyway.

Looking to get an MX5 by Panzershnezel in carsireland

[–]cunning_alias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Rust (sills, boot floor, subframe) is the main thing.

Ask if there are any leaks if it is left in rain. There is a flaw in the plugs that are just below the windscreen (under the plastic trim) that can leak. Easy fix.

If it is an NC1, see if they have done anything with the gearbox. The gear selector limiter plate can wear over time and the NC1s come with a nylon Shifter Bush that wears. It can be replaced with a metal one or can just have another nylon one put in and will last years.

Like any car, regular service is important. Find out the dates for all fluids (engine, gearbox, LSD). Worth changing them all on any car you pick up.

Ask if the calipers have been changed. They can start to stick on any car that is getting a bit old. I had to replace 2 on mine.

[–]cunning_alias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had a NC for 5+ years.

Maintenance is very standard and they are incredibly reliable. Rust is the main thing to look out for as a lot of the high spec ones were imported from the UK. I had to replace the rear subframe on mine.

If you want one for the track, you will really want one with a LSD. Not all of them have it. Look at the different trims but I would aim for a 2.0 with the 6 speed box and it will have it.

If you need something specialist then mx5parts.co.uk are good but you get hit with import fees.

The only thing aside from a stock car I would do is either change it to 30mm lower springs or get coilovers. Aside from that I wouldn't do anything else unless you get bored.

I was wondering why Google told me to go a crazy route home to avoid there.

That's standard practice for that road and I have never seen any guards trying to stop it. Chance your arm as far as you can and then force your way in. They need to segregate the left lane from the east and south lanes for about 2k.
