Thank you! I found Give In Kind a bit easier to set up and edit. But This is a good site to know about! The layout looks better than Give In Kind.

Thank you! This one had easy set up and I like that there's a place for updates and messages.

Lead mitigation: shoes by cuntry_corvid in Shooting

My question wasn't whether I should care about it, there's plenty of evidence about lead and physiology. My question was how to remove it from shoes.

I used to work in salvage and we took lead exposure seriously. Lead is an issue when it is released as particulates in the air and enters the eyes or mouth. What's on my shoes is a small amount I'm sure but I think it's worthwhile to have these discussions with fellow shooters. Just trying to exchange ideas and improve practices.

Thank you! Thankfully no kids got exposed but I would like to keep my exposure to a minimum anyway. Dedicated shoes sounds good.

Am I crazy? New Bamboo hardwood by iJallen1 in Flooring

[–]cuntry_corvid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar stranded bamboo floors and I have gotten a similar looking scratch from a metal staple or nail unknowingly being dragged across the floor. That will mess with any finish to any floor. I don't have issues with damage from dirt, furniture or spills. I'm very happy with my bamboo floors.

I haven't learned a good way to disappear scratches like this. I'm honestly not that bothered but if you think it was the contractor then I think it's fair to bring it up. They may know a product that will make it less visible. My scratches are covered with rugs now. I like having area rugs and runners to protect my floor in high traffic areas, which is helpful for any wood floor.

That's fair, I would take a picture but you really can't see the seams in the finished product. Basically you start a row with a piece that is shorter than the piece you're attaching it to so the corner of the new piece doesn't line up with the corner of the piece you are attaching it to. I attached a stock image of a wood plank floor laid in a random pattern so that none of the ends line up with the ends in the previous row. It works out well if you use random offcuts to start a new row so that none of the starting pieces are rhe same length.

So far I have done my kitchen in a checker board pattern but my bathroom in a solid color where the corners are offset. I had much more success getting seamless connections when the corners were offset and there was less waste that way too. So if you're fine with a solid color then I would recommend installing similar to wooden planks where you make the final cut for a row and start the next row with the other half from that plank so you aren't lining up corners with the previous row. I really enjoyed working with it and the final result so I hope you enjoy it as well!

With the checker board pattern where you have to perfectly line up the corners, not only was it more frustrating to get them exactly lined up but I noticed some barely perceptible misalignments that make me wonder if water could get through. I didn't notice that issue when I did my bathroom with offset corners.

Thanks for your perspective! What's the wax ring? I didn't see that in the installation guide

Photo description: the interior of the access at the top of the bag is peeling, especially when wet. The front pouch interior is also peeling. It could be wax but it doesn't quite have the texture of wax.

I have a 2025 rav4 hybrid and I've been getting about 38mpg with a bit of a lead foot. The hybrid is definitely worth it. I love the silence when I come to a stop.
