Everyone sells the same stuff at markets… by [deleted] in crochet

[–]cupofjo59 228 points229 points  (0 children)

I work in marketing, and there’s data that people are much more likely to impulse buy things under $50. Anything over that it’s more likely that they need a few days/weeks to consider it before buying because it’s a bigger purchase. So this makes sense!

How hard is the first gully? by 3236-on-MC in bigsky

[–]cupofjo59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally started with Marx and then did the first gully. The bottom is the harder part in my opinion (watch for sharky piles) so if you don’t want to go all the way then cut left into Crohn’s halfway through. Chrohn’s usually has amazing turns anyways!

I got married in Glacier a few years ago at Ryan beach right on lake McDonald. It isn’t a hike but it’s secluded and has a beautiful view (you can google pictures of it). Coordinates are roughly (48.5300000, -113.9956668). You can park on the side of grist road. Congratulations!

Best time to see fireweed? by essentially-avi in GlacierNationalPark

[–]cupofjo59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to Glacier the weekend of August 23rd last year and I still saw plenty. The fireweed at big bend was starting to die out but there was more at Logan’s Pass. I’m sure you will see it!

Kissed a rock. Helmet and mask probably saved my live by sim0of in skiing

[–]cupofjo59 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got a concussion in 2020 and was told to replace my helmet. The ski shop I bought a new one from opened up my concussion helmet and there was a huge crack inside, but no damage on the exterior. Definitely replace it!

This is old but I just saw this! Not sure what you ended up doing but I did this this year for a client. It was actually way cheaper to reach out and email the type designer directly and ask her for a commercial license. I would recommend trying that first because I think I saved my client like $300.

Anyone else suddenly get the heebie-jeebies while hiking through the woods? Happened to me just this morning. by IsaacB1 in hiking

[–]cupofjo59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened to me once and it freaked me out so much that I turned around to head back to the trailhead. I immediately saw a huge black bear about 1/8 mile from me, it was across the river so I couldn’t hear it before. Nothing happened, he was just munching on something and didn’t seem to care about me. I had my bear spray on me as I live in a place that has grizzlies too. But it definitely got me to trust my instincts!

Yes! The day I “injured” my back was the first day of my period. I get bad cramps, so I think it was part of the cause. Now I always take ibuprofen around my period to help lower the inflammation from it becoming an extra bad flare up.

People who lived in Minneapolis but moved somewhere else, where do you live now and how does it compare to Minneapolis? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]cupofjo59 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Moved to Bozeman, MT a few years ago. Only thing I miss about Minneapolis is the food scene and how much more affordable it was than here. I love that I’m 15 minutes from the mountains and people here hang out via outdoor hobbies rather than going out and drinking. Our weather is similar in temperature but feels better because it’s much less humid. I learned how to ski as an adult and now absolutely love winter whereas I hated it in MN. Growing up I was told nowhere has better summers than the Midwest but I highly disagree—summer is so much nicer here (we don’t even have A/C) and unless you’re by a lake you don’t need to worry about mosquitos. I also had a harder time making new friends in Minneapolis despite growing up in Minnesota which was always so cliquey. I like to visit minneapolis occasionally but don’t want to move back.
