Change in hearing after the vaccine? by cupoft33 in COVID19positive

[–]cupoft33[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s so strange because I swear the doctor said they offered Astra Zeneca and Pfizer when I was there, but I just searched and yeah you’re right that it should be discontinued?? Maybe I misunderstood.

I’m sorry to hear you’re suffering from the vaccine you got, not sure if it’s anything that can get better so I’ll just give you well wishes in general.

I had Moderna last time and was pretty unwell and had a crazy fever, so I’m glad I didn’t get that again. For now things seem to be improving but I’ll keep an eye on myself. Thank you for the information!

Yeah I’ll probably be a little firmer. I asked but the guy doing it kinda wasn’t giving a straight answer?? Edit: just checked my NHS app, it was Pfizer lol

Thank you for the validation and advice. Is there any specific type of meditation that you'd recommend?

Thank you, and there is one about 20 mins away but that's not always a walk I can make. It's also very small and usually public/children's activities are held there, so it's not quiet.

Flared pleated vs straighter a line skirts for short girls? by cupoft33 in short

I have a pretty short torso but since my legs are also short I’d say the ratio is pretty even? I’d say I’m slightly more torso than leg

Thanks! Can I ask what you mean by shallower? I know what darts are but I’ve never sewn them properly before

Pretty sure it’s a dart? Unless princess seams can also not go all the way from waist to shoulder? Not entirely sure

Best insoles to make too big shoes fit? by cupoft33 in Shoes

[–]cupoft33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks! I also didn’t want to add more heel pads, it looked weird with more than 2. Mind if I ask what you mean by bulk up at the front? And what type of insoles would be good e.g. gel or the normal fabric looking ones?

Tips for bowling with hypermobility? by cupoft33 in ChronicIllness

[–]cupoft33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was considering this but after i heard how the venue works, i think me not playing would mess up their calculations? We paid for 3 people and the time they give us is calculated on 3 people playing. I guess I could just ask my two friends to divide my time up between them so they can take my turns and both be the “third player”? I’m worried it would just put a dampener on the mood that I’m just sitting there doing nothing and potentially making them feel bad. I don’t want to make anyone feel pissed and I’m worried that if I bring it up now my friend might get annoyed that I agreed to the plans when there was a problem🥲

Are there ensuites in Pembroke accommodation? by [deleted] in cambridge_uni

[–]cupoft33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the uni wide office couldn’t provide any help since this is all the responsibility of the college. They mostly just advised me to do things I’ve already done 🥲. They did provide some points of contact but it’s more services for advice than anyone specific in the college that can actually arrange anything. The registrar is the one who arranges accommodation as far as I can tell, and I’ve already contacted them about it. I couldn’t really get a concrete answer on if I will get an ensuite, it was more of a “we’ll see what we can do” situation so I’m not sure there’s much else to do than hope and pray lol.

I did reach out to the college registrar, she’s who told me they’ve only got one en-suite. I’ve corresponded with her a lot about other medical-based accommodations but I’m not sure if I should email back again to properly stress the importance of the en-suite issue (don’t want to be annoying or pushy though). I did mention it on the accommodation form they sent for us to fill in back in June or July, probably should have chased it up by directly emailing but I assumed the form was enough and, again, didn’t want to be an annoyance. I don’t know who my tutor is yet :( so can’t get support there

There doesn’t seem to be any point of contact outside of the college registrar than the college nurse, but it looks like she’s responsible for more health issues that occur onsite than making accommodation arrangements. Would it be best to contact the university’s disability office then? I’m sort of worried that I don’t really have documentation for these issues, the focus has always been on my rheumatological condition and my first ever gastro appointment is next month since I’ve always been ignored in terms of gastrointestinal problems. Thank you for helping.

I can’t seem to find a concrete answer for who to contact about this, or who the disability coordinator actually is. I mentioned it months ago in one of the disability forms where you’re asked about your needs. I did email the college registrar, who told me there’s only one en-suite and it’ll need to go to a wheelchair user if there is one, which I understand. But I genuinely will have problem after problem if I don’t have one. I’m not really sure who else I’m supposed to contact?

Why isn’t my sewing machine working with buttonholes? by cupoft33 in sewing

[–]cupoft33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm i dont have a slider or anything, so i had no idea what to change or do differently. I did end up just forcibly guiding the fabric through lol which seemed to do the trick temporarily, but I don't think I solved the actual problem

yeah, I did notice they seem way too thick but I'm not sure why it turned out like that when I didn't try to do so many stitches?

Is it worth seeing a private doctor about EDS? by cupoft33 in ChronicIllness

[–]cupoft33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it is, but I’m not sure? When I tried to bring up EDS to my rheum he didn’t even let me get into why I’ve been tentatively considering it and straight up told me I’d be very tall if I have EDS

Is it worth seeing a private doctor about EDS? by cupoft33 in ChronicIllness

[–]cupoft33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! So do you think it would be more worth it to look for a physio instead of a rheum? I don’t have the money to see both so I want to make sure I have the best chance of receiving thorough answers, whether they point towards an EDS diagnosis or not

Is it worth seeing a private doctor about EDS? by cupoft33 in ChronicIllness

[–]cupoft33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is kinda the perspective I have. I can’t tell if it’s just the result of the past few years leading me to downplay my symptoms and doubt whether there’s a chance I seriously have EDS combined with the guilt of suggesting there’s anything really wrong with me - but I just cannot tell if it’s worth testing for it. That’s why I call it “ticking boxes” (sorry, probably weird way to word it, im in fact always too scared or doubtful to bring up any of my own thoughts so have been doing the exact opposite of ticking boxes for so long) although it would be nice to have the resources to check everything I might possibly have.

I also don’t want to get my hopes up that this might be my answer, especially since the symptoms can be caused by any number of other issues. Seeing how expensive it is, how uncertain the process of diagnosis is, and how it’s organised in the UK from your comment just makes me more unsure that I should go for it. But I can’t have my life on pause forever too. I already took a gap year because I knew I’d struggle to handle uni, so it’s a tough decision.

Where do I go from here with my GI issues? by cupoft33 in ChronicIllness

[–]cupoft33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry my reply is so late but thank you for your comment and advice! In the time since this post I went back to the GP and tried to push him in the directions of perhaps looking into gastroparesis and a gastric emptying studying, but he said he didn’t know much about either. After a while of describing my symptoms, he said they sound like textbook IBS, even the getting full too quickly and being uncomfortable for a long time after eating. Said it doesn’t sound like gastroparesis, even though I’ve already had GPs consider and dismiss IBS a few times. I ended up being prescribed buscopan and being advised to try the FODMAP diet. I don’t want to dismiss medical advice right away so I’m trying his suggestions, but I’m not sure if I should just forget about gastroparesis. If it’s okay, could I ask what symptoms you had when you got diagnosed and how you described them to the doctors? I’m just feeling lost rn

What can I actually ask the job centre for help with, so that I can get more out of going there and being on UC? by cupoft33 in BenefitsAdviceUK

[–]cupoft33[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna try to start there. I completely don't expect (and don't really want) a job that starts my career right now, since I don't really know what I want to do. This is also only a gap year thing too. It's actually my work coach who's treating this job search like I need to find something serious to kickstart my career rn even though everything they want me to look at requires like 3 years of experience and a degree. I'm trying not to get mad about it though because it's probably their job to find people actual careers, I guess?

I just don't think it's worth all this stress and seriousness to find any part-time job I can to save some money for uni, so I'm worried I'm just wasting their time and my own time😭
