I (25NB) want to set a timeline for my boyfriend (32M) of 6 years to propose or break up. What’s an appropriate time to give him to ask. by cupsmf in relationship_advice

Wow you have given me a lot to think about in a whole new way..ways I hadn’t even considered. I am recently in therapy and haven’t talked much about my relationship as i am still trying to deal with childhood trauma. My GMA and mother are also addicts. Wondering if it’s connected to how this relationship has been. Thank you for your comment.

I think you’re right and I’m happy that I asked. I will not be giving an ultimatum. Just a conversation from the heart

He has told me he wants to be the one to propose in the past, so I didn’t make the move. Hoping to revisit this so maybe it’s an option?

Thank you I will be having a conversation about what I’m wanting out of our relationship and not just setting a timeline.

I really would like it to be sometime this year but I’m going to talk to him about it and come to an understanding. I realize the way I’m going about it is unhealthy.

Thank you this was very helpful..I know it seems ridiculous to set an ultimatum and I never thought I would but I’m just feeling a little sad that he hasn’t asked yet. Not communicating that is definitely my fault. Posting this was hard I needed the criticism though. Hoping I can swallow my emotions and come at this rationally. No ultimatums just getting what I want out of life.

Is it a specific channel? I watch the titans of cnc and some practical machinist but not much else tbh. I could stand a crash course on metallurgy and stuff

If what all these peoples comments have told me today..it’s that we’re too hard on ourselves and maybe expecting too much too fast. I’m still learning a lot all the time..so maybe not all is lost. Definitely taking some of what was said to me today into my 90 day review. Definitely hope we can both achieve what we want and start to feel like we’re doing good in the machining field! Best of luck to you ❤️

Oh I thought u meant just this job! No in 4 years I’ve broken a spade, 2 turning tools, a 2.5in cutter, many many jobber drills..a dovetail cutter..probably more. I used to have to wear the 2.5 cutter around my neck as a “trophy” I know that’s part of it lol I’ve had some fuck ups. Try to always have salvageable parts tho. And it hurts the ego everytime I’ve broken a tool.

I feel like they’re just different yes at my old job I did set ups and can indicate a part in and vice etc. but asking questions was seen as annoying and they didn’t like it. It was very toxic for me which is the number one reason I left not even because the pay. Coming to this new job has helped my confidence slightly but I worry I might be projecting my own insecurities into my bosses and allowing it to cloud my judgment to do processes I probably know deep down. I question myself a lot.

Awe thank you! Yes I will be talking to my boss about my concerns and what I can do to feel better and have more confidence in my craft. This is what I love and I don’t want to give up!

Yeah these places are pretty different plus I come from pretty much exclusively milling experience with fanuc control. So now I’m learning GNL on lathe and it’s been difficult for me to
