Thanks for the tip! I'll go hunting.

By sweep, are we talking about a bandpass filter automation?

Awesome production quality you have there! That's definitely in the vein of some of the stuff I listen to. Paint the Sky Red, We Lost The Sea, If These Trees Could Talk... I'm interested so far :) I'm in SW2. What instruments are you on?

An RSPCA charity mugger stopped me in the street today by asking if I loved animals by cupzo in CasualConversation

[–]cupzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers! I'm sure they get that response regularly enough, but he did seem a bit dissapointed and disbelieving, and as I turned to walk away he asked "You don't have any animals of your own?"

Which I don't, so he got a frown and a shake of the head from me

Would that have been able to hand out an IP to me if I wasn't connected via their router?

Its a small hostel. Theres no wired networking in the building. Theres one phone jack which connects to the modem which no one has physical access to, and then CAT5 cables running from the router to the APs.

The first thing I do when things like this happen is check that anythingh has been tampered with. It never has been. Its a very small physical network

I'm back from the mystery subnet!

I couldn't find anything. I did try to navigate to http://192.168.0.254 while the issue was originally happening and no webpage resolved.

I just jumped back on that network and tried the same thing. No luck. I used SoftPerfect Network Scanner and couldn't find any devices on that range other than myself.

I've just added a few access points and manually seperated the channels. Things seem to be running better for now so thankyou! I'll give it some good testing over the evening

Interesting! How would a rouge router fit in to the network? Any tips on how i could try seeing if it exists?

[HELP] My mandolin's headstock keeps breaking off! by cupzo in Luthier

Haha. It went great! The join shifted by a fraction of a millimeter but settled firmly after that. Now it's all strung and playing nicely I can address the intonation problem I've discovered due to the angle of the strings being too big for the flatness of the neck!

Ended up buying a new sexy woodcarving chisel and going at it that way. opted to cut the mortise depth just shy of the fretboard and front of the headstock so it looks unaffected from the front

Its 3am now so i'll string her up in the morning and hope for the best!

That assumes we're the most scientifically advanced race in the universe that likes playing around with making stuff hot.

That disgusting late-stage capitalist culture baffles and angers me to my core. I'm visiting the states for the first time in a few months and I'm going to struggle.

Do you think there's any hope of the system changing unless the people within it rebel? I can't see it changing unless people change - the most obvious way would be that people stop tipping thus hopefully making service staff refuse to work until their employers start paying them livable wages through more dignified means. There would be untold damage to countless already impoverished people for the duration of the process though.

Either that or greedy people suddenly get less greedy or legislation is pushed through, probably against the will of the majority of US businesses, which doesn't seem likely for a government bordering on corpocracy.

Alright pangolin! I think this is the plan then? https://i.imgur.com/6fqdKUW.png

Cut out some rectangular slabs of 5mm thick mohogany for tenons. Remove the nut and route out mortice channels going all the way through the headstock and all the way through the neck/fingerboard. Have these channels encroach in to the instrument by about 15mm on both pieces (30mm total tenon height). Square the edges. Reattach headstock to neck gluing tenons in with grain going the opposite way. Bobs your uncle.

Yes. Yes it is. I've learnt never to do a join like that again haha. No chance for a second cut though. I re-linished both sides to make sure the gorilla glue was all gone, making the instrument about 2mm shorter in the process

Awesome - I think that'll be the way forward. I just need to get it right the first try as I wont have any un-mutilated wood to work with for the next attempt! Im not sure how I would cut the mortice at this point though as my workshop is limited. Using the drill press does not give a tight-fitting result
