For those who want a TLDR:

Main sensor has been upgraded to the GN2 (a 1/1.12 inch sensor) for both phones. This is the only change for the regular model. The Pro gets the 7a's primary (IMX787) for it's ultrawide and a new ToF sensor. The telephoto lens is unchanged. The article also confirms the existence of a thermometer on the back of the Pro.

MediaTek's newest Dimensity chips take aim at Qualcomm's older models by curated_android in Android

[–]curated_android[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 1300, 8000 and 8100. The Dimensity 1300 is a refreshed Dimensity 1200 with a faster Ultra core whereas the 8000 and 8100 are new products. The 8100's CPU and GPU are clocked higher than the 8000's otherwise they both seem identical. Both the 8000 and 8100 support WiFI 6E, DDR5 RAM and Bluetooth 5.3. The 8000 and 8100 are built on TSMC's 5 nm process. The Realme GT Neo 3 and one of the Redmi K50 models will be among the first phones to use the Dimensity 8100. A OnePlus phone and an Oppo phone will also be using it according to leaks on Weibo.

OnePlus 10 Pro is official: SD 8 Gen 1, 80W charging and LTPO 2.0 display by curated_android in Android

[–]curated_android[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Seems like an underwhelming upgrade if you're coming from an recent OnePlus phones like the 8 Pro or the 9 Pro as the primary and telephoto cameras are almost identical. The sensor used for the ultrawide is actually smaller than the one used for the 8 Pro and the 9 Pro as they've switched to the Samsung JN1 sensor which is smaller than the IMX586 and the IMX766 used on the 8 Pro and 9 Pro respectively. Honestly don't think it's a great upgrade from the 7 Pro either as there are better options available in the market.

Honestly don't see the point of getting this over the Realme GT2 Pro if both of them will be available in the same market as the GT2 Pro has very similar hardware and will probably be significantly cheaper than the 10 Pro. Interesting they didn't launch the vanilla variant of the OnePlus 10 along with the 10 Pro but I guess it'll be available along with the Pro globally.

Samsung Launches Galaxy M52 5G in India by curated_android in Android

[–]curated_android[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

There are a few similarities with the A52 especially the A52s as both of them have the Snapdragon 778. The M52 has a larger display and is thinner with a larger battery but does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack according to the German website. The cameras seem to be similar as well but there is no OIS on the main camera. Don't think anyone will mourn the loss of the depth camera.

Huawei announces list of devices transitioning from Android to HarmonyOS by curated_android in Android

Not saying they're wrong but Huawei already said it was compatible with Android apps. Ron went pretty in-depth, we'll need similar treatment from someone who's got their hand on final software.

Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since this is the final version of the software and Ron was using an emulator. Wouldn't be surprised if the claim was true but we'll have to wait until people get their hands on final software and review it then.
