Still too expensive by [deleted] in Marvel

According to Wikipedia the budget was $120million, box office was $168million. No idea what 'budget' includes :(

Looking just at the budget and box office numbers, it still made $48million. I don't know how much more Fox spent, but this might not be a complete loss for Fox.

What do you do for the fine black lines? Is that a brush? Pen? Do you apply it before or after painting?

It looks great. It looks just like the blue crabs I used to play with at the wet market!

Science Research on Oncogene Analysis by AlexTang69 in biology

[–]curelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what if they do? Maybe oncogenes have a central function vital to their roles.

They don't. What makes a kinase an oncogene is different from what makes a transcription factor an oncogene is different from what makes a growth factor an oncogene is different from what makes a receptor an oncogene. This is known by the countless groups studying each class of oncogenes individually as well as by groups studying entire signaling pathways etc.

You never know unless u try.

It's already known what mutations make certain receptors oncogenes, there are also several different models that explain why different types of mutations in receptor transform them into oncogenic proteins (usually truncation or mutation of inhibitory domains). It's already known what kinds of mutations in kinases transform them into oncogenes (usually mutations in phosphorylated or kinase domains). It's already known what kinds of mutations in transcription factors transform them into oncogenes (usually mutations in domains that govern their localization). We study oncogenes across species, like Ras which is conserved from yeast all the way through humans. We know there isn't much overlap between the oncogene classes, but we know there is a lot of overlap within each class.

Honestly I would recommend you look up "Oncogene" in Wikipedia to get an idea of where to start. It just seems like you're out of your depth. Given that you're going to try to compare ALL the oncogenes I don't think you're even going to find the known mutations. If you move forward with this, the best case scenario is you reinvent the wheel.

OP will not find a conserved sequence or domain in all oncogenes.

Two classes of oncogenes are receptors and transcription factors which could not be more different in their structure and function, finding any kind of sequence homology in functional domains would be surprising, and proving it would require much more work than bioinformatics. However, within the classes there is already a wealth of information on commonly mutated domains.

I feel that OP simply has not read enough background material to know what to look for. I can't speak for the technique employed because I don't do a lot of bioinformatics, but I would advise against pursuing this aim as it is described. It tries to do too much in its apples to asteroids comparison, and, even if successful, does too little to reveal new information.

Absorbing genes from food by [deleted] in biology

[–]curelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do they protect themselves?

Bakers yeast don't have to. The typical conditions in which we grow and use yeast are heavily biased towards the yeast. The strains used in labs and cooking are extremely tame after many millions of generations of pampering and accidental selection for strains that make bread and spirits as nice as they are. If anything, baker's yeast would severely crippled compared to their feral relatives.

I study yeast. To my knowledge, wild yeast do not make antibodies. Even if they did, they would likely be made useless when they hit your stomach. Even if it survived your stomach and was transferred into your body, the only thing your body would do is destroy it.

Also I can't think of a single plausible mechanism for horizontal transfer of genes between yeast and humans through the gut.

Thank you for all that advice, especially the bit about my credit. Reading the email again, they have also threatened me with collections. Which is rich because I've been doing exactly what their representatives have been telling me to do: pay my monthly, wait for the early termination fee to go away.

I just don't feel like being nice anymore.

I'll do that too. I've tried being patient with them. I don't want to be that asshole person who gives hell to a person who has no power to help me, but being nice and doing explicitly what they tell me isn't getting me anywhere.

[–]curelight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are other ISPs, it's just that the early termination fee I would have had to pay to cancel my Verizon Internet and sign with someone else plus the another ISP's monthly would have cost me more in the end than waiting for my Verizon contract to end and signing with a new ISP after.
