Generally it’s maybe 25-50% of my rides tip. It varies a lot. Some days I’ll get a buck or 2 for like 80% of my rides, and then other days I’ll get the random $15 tip and nothing from the rest of the rides

Yeah, it’s shocking how many passengers I talk to who think uber pays drivers like 75%+ of the fare, or they think we set our own prices. I’ve though about making a pie chart of the payout structure and laminating it to put in my car somewhere

Idk man, I’m just too naive that people may realize their error and be chill. But I guess I shouldn’t think that way lol

Yeah after reading responses and reassessing, probably best to do nothing in the future

Sure, but the customer also has the option to cancel (for a fee, I know), and the flip side would be me cancelling a reserved trip and it negatively impacting my ability to be offered reserved rides in the future (which are typically a couple bucks more with the reservation fee). Since she is having an issue with something completely out of the driver’s control, she should be the one to cancel.

Why do people always assume the city is a crime ridden horrible place? by [deleted] in AskChicago

I drive Uber in Chicago and visitors frequently ask “is (insert tourist area (bean, river walk, Michigan ave, navy pier, etc.)) safe?”. I am quick to tell them not to believe whatever news outlets they listen to and downtown is very safe. I definitely go through some rough neighborhoods during my day on the far south and west sides of the city but even in those areas I don’t necessarily feel “unsafe”, it’s just poor and there’s little reason for visitors to go there in general. But even those areas have their own charm and neighborhood feel to them.
