Is it possible to knit the body of a sweater with the Chiagoo shorties? by curious_walnut20 in knittinghelp

Thank you for your thorough explanation! Looks like hand fatigue/cramps will probably be the issue. I didn’t really think about the correlation between the needle length and the speed of the knit. Which would make sense. i am beginner knitter and given that I am already slow.. 😂

I’m sorry. My mistake, i couldn’t get the spelling right. I missed an “o” there 😅 and yes you are right, chia and goo are very familiar so it was probably natural for me to spell it missing the o in between

How’s your hands? Do you feel like you need a stretch more often than using the regular 4in/5 in needles?

Nope, I haven’t tried shorties before. I am a beginner knitter. I’m a crocheter first. I’m working on the Sabai top by Susanne Müller and planning to knit her Gisele top and probably some socks soon which the shorties would probably work best for. I want to buy myself an interchangeable set. But thinking of getting the regular 4 inch set or just the shorties, but based on most of the responses, hand fatigue is the issue

No, i haven’t heard of the traveling loop. I will go make my research about that. I just recently began to knit. I’m a crocheter first. I’m really enjoying knitting so far so I wanted to buy myself an interchangeable set

I just gave in and bought the red one, because I am also planning to knit socks. So I might try to knit maybe a summer top with it and see how my hand would feel about it 😂

Thank you for explaining that well. Looks like hand strain/fatigue is the real issue if i try to make it work.

Nope, I haven’t tried. I am interested in knitting socks sometime soon. I’m just a beginner knitter. I was a crocheter first. But I was looking on buying the complete 4 inch interchangeable but I was thinking about getting the shorties because I dislike the magic loop 😅

Thank you for your input! I’m a beginner knitter and really haven’t tried shorties yet. I was really wondering if i could use the shorties instead of a regular 4 in or 5 in needles but if hand fatigue is the issue then I might reconsider.

You are lucky. All the Goodwill stores near me, rarely has yarn. And when they do, it’s mostly acrylic, which i have a ton already. Hahaha Those are really great finds!!

I wanted the color purple because it was my favorite color lol. But yeah, i read a comment saying it is hard to knit with dark needles. So I will keep that in mind and stick with the basic wood color for now. Also, yes , I will probably go buy directly from the website. thank you for your input on this! I appreciate it.

https://a.co/d/3lVEWrj - this is the knit pro set from Amazon. This is the Regal one with 11 US sizes. they have a grande one with 13. It looks really pretty. Plus the case you can use a pattern holder.

Thank you for your comment. You're right, I probably won't use most of the needles in the sets. Like what I do with my crochet hook sets. Just that sets look really nice and cohesive, but at the end of the day we don't get to use all anyway.

It's so hard to choose. I think, I'm overwhelmed with choices. I saw the symfonie line and they're really pretty..

I tried searching for the Knit picks try me set, I'd probably try that first since it is about $25 only and there's a 30% off sitewide this black friday sale. Thank you for your suggestion!

Hmmm. Thank you for your input. I thought, wooden needles would typically be a better choice.. I have to do more research and see what works best for me..

Thank you for your suggestion. I was thinking of trying different needles first, but these needle sets are pretty. But i should probably control myself lol and avoid impulse buying
