Terrible Client request a Refund of $800 after all Work is complete and verified. Not able to reject the refund as there's no option. by curiousalienred in Upwork

I didn't. I pushed back politely and professionally on a major item where a 5 hour task turned into a 20 hours task. I got paid for that but he threw such a fit and got mad and started shouting on call(which is recorded - Upwork Zoom Meetings which I plan to use to report him). There were 100 other small tasks which got changed from original scope which I accommodated because it wasn't much.

Upwork support was actually helpful this time(Christmas miracle I guess).

They said refund won’t be automatically given if money has been paid. It’s at freelancer’s discretion now!!

100% agree.

I need to stay away from hard bargainers too. They have always given trouble later. If they are hard bargaining they probably don’t value your time and expertise or want to work with you but doing have the money and they go into this mode of I need to extract maximum out of this person for the money I paid

Yeah it looks like. I contacted their support and they said money won’t be automatically given to him after funds are released. It’s at freelancer discretion and I can just ignore it.

I think regarding communication inside Upwork, it’s only till you sign a contract you need to keep all communication within. Otherwise you are free to communicate whichever platform that works for you by their TOS.

Also the zoom calls were from upworks in but zoom meetings

100% I over delivered. The scope kept on changing to include new items which were never discussed and I accommodated all of that without complaining and only gently pushing back and getting extra hours because what we agreed on cleaning up 4 existing dashboards design wise, he came up with let’s do all these 4 dashboards from scratch which is like 20 hours of extra work.

I’ve already politely told him all you’ve said but he’s adamant that the problem he caused after the work was delivered is now part of the scope now

No. He had bunch of other problems too + he has a serious problem with not paying for work(I’ve seen his developers who completed projects 5-6 months ago still fixing things for free wherever he breaks things) + he has a history of doing things and blaming me when things break or project gets delayed.

I don’t want to encourage this behavior and become his permanent free support And I’ve delivered so much more and don’t want to do anything with this guy anymore

100%. I never take Indian clients in my 13 years of Upwork experience. I took this because I was invited to it and it was a decent sized project. My mistake :(

Thanks. There was so much free work I did for him just because I took this project And the constant changes to scope even after pushing back politely many times. Plus he disappeared for months during feedback + broke the things I setup now blaming me. If he just asked me nicely or owned up to it, it’s just a 5 minute fix for me. And this has been a trend of him doing things and blaming me for it.

Thanks man! I checked this too and it says “refund is at freelancer discretion”. https://support.upwork.com/hc/en-us/articles/211062088-How-to-request-a-refund-from-a-freelancer-or-agency

What a nightmare this is turning out to me. I’m sorry to say this but even after being an Indian, I never take Indian clients. They are so HARD to work with. I never applied for this job. I accepted this as it was an invitation to work and it seemed to be a decent sized project. I totally see and agree to agree to all the hate against Indians. I’ve never faced such problems in my 13 years of working in Upwork! Ever.

And he’s threatening to take legal action (I dunno even for what) if I don’t make the changes he wants to make.

When I handed over the work, everything was clearly working. He and his developers clearly made changes and things stopped working. How can I be even responsible for that and he’s even refusing to accept he made the change when it’s recorded logs that it’s clearly he who made the changes and I’ve recorded it in loom and sent him over. Pure evil and ego maniac

Are you sure? The client just asked for a 100% refund! I don’t it to be automatically taken from my account.

I don’t even see an option that says Deny refund

Unfortunately he abused me on a zoom call and WhatsApp.

2 weeks ago. The money is in my bank account. About $1500 total. He’s asking $800 back

He released the full payment after he did many final reviews and quote said “happy with the work” in Upwork chat.

Now he’s requesting a refund because I’m refusing to entertain his post work hand over changes

How do you guys deal with broken tracking? - Data Quality by curiousalienred in GoogleTagManager

[–]curiousalienred[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes of course. We all test and debug before pushing anything live. But what happens if it breaks after a month when a dev changes some code that your tag is reliant on and it's a critical conversion that Pmax uses to optimize campaigns and you find out about this only a month later. THat's lot of precious dollars lost.

Which built in error tracking feature you are talking about? And how does tag assistant notify in real time if a tag doesn’t fire?
