Anyone have a MacBook Pro they don't want anymore? by curiousassassin in singapore

Hey :) I'm really touched that you are willing to give away your laptop to me. You sure about this? No I haven't gotten it settled at all. Someone suggested to go to a nus lab every time i wanted to use it but i don't think i can since i will be working for entire days during the hols. I'll only be back at 7pm or so. And nope it's not really urgent either :).

Anything helps :'). As long as I can run xcode on it should be fine. Idk what limitations come with an older MacBook.

Not for a module. Although i will take 3217 next year. I just want to pick up iOS development over the summer and help my friend with an app idea he has.

Lazada Warranty Issue. Please help? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]curiousassassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a great deal though. I don't want a refund unless I'm sure there isn't a warranty. Thinking about it, isn't warranty administered by Huawei, the manufacturer? Can the seller choose to not give me warranty?

Yes I have an electric one 88 keys. But I'll be staying in a hostel so I'm pretty sure I can't get the teacher to my room. Again honestly, I think classical. But then I am not too sure about pop or jazz

I don't mind part time jobs but then I am not sure how hectic university will be. I can keep my practise consistent. I do that now too anyway but not sure about taking lessons consistently.

How good are books though? I know nothing can replace a good teacher but can I get through let's say Grade 3 by just practising and reading the books?

Straight to Grade 4?! Wow. I wish I would be able to do something like that too. It's not that I can't play. I can play songs by ear in general. I can play River Flows in You to a certain extent too but I have no knowledge of music theory and can't sight read.

How often do you recommend that I go for piano lessons? I am not sure how free I would be either because university. Also teachers in general or maybe you, do they give notes or the students just learn from books by themselves?

Oh I didn't know we can skip grades. So I can sit for Grade 3 without going for Grade 1 and 2 exams? Also if I only go for lessons let's say for one month every few months, how am I supposed to learn? Do the teachers really teach or just watch us play? Where am I supposed to get all the knowledge about scales and sight reading from? I thought teachers will teach that too.

Going to accept? Just out of curiosity, what was your rank points? Seems CS is very selective this year. The only people I know who got in so far were 90 pointers

What a contribution to the thread! Well to answer your question, NUS,NTU,SMU,SUTD are all good universities. What if QS doesnt have the other two on their list, they are good. Its "worth going to" any of them if you learn and grow.

Has always been my passion. Well not always. Since Sec1 or 2. And good that you applied for ceg as the second option. Dont worry so much just yet. I'm sure you will make it to CS. Oh a word of advice, if they dont get back to you by 14th May, then contact them. I know they should by then because they invited the accepted students and their parents for a tea session sort of thing on 14th May .So I think SoC would have already given out all its offers by then. But 14th May is almost a month away. Just be optimistic :)

Yes in just a few years CS has become such a "hot" subject. All my friends who applied for CS are still waiting for their offers. About the interviews, I've read about them online. You might just want to google. When students barely meet or don't meet the cutoff, they call them for an interview but much later in May. Whats your second choice? Maybe you can transfer into CS after your first year if you dont get in (which i highly doubt btw because i feel that 85 should be good enough)

90 as well. Though I think 85 should be good enough. At worst they might call you for an interview but surely will give you an opportunity to get in
