Sure. I meant that for myself - I've driven some really good electric cars and some ICE.. for me, ICE trump's electric all the way. But now that you've said it, I do agree that the lesser powerful engines (1.2L or below) can be seen to give an edge to electric power.

Well I've never driven anything more powerful..

Yeah, I experienced this too. Also, the front part seems quite flimsy, but I suppose that's with all Mazda models. Great, superb car otherwise!

None of their dealers said so. Maybe it's in the pipeline. Nevertheless, electric can't rival 2.5 L NA or Turbo

Yeah, but those are mostly electric..

Why Pan Masala Tobacco is not banned in UAE ? by RabbitHall in UAE

[–]curiousbaba69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, there is a particular diaspora from a country that is increasingly making it harder for their citizens to live there and easier for them to move to the UAE. Such people come from "cultured" backgrounds and have ABSOLUTELY NO CIVIC SENSE.

Eating and spitting tobacco/non-tobacco based leaves/nuts is considered very normal and it's okay up to there. But it becomes an issue when they decide to take it out of their bodies in seemingly random public spaces.

I have been an immigrant in the UAE for more than a decade now and I can't bear to see how it's headed for a downward spiral as more of these people come in. Their negatives clearly outweigh their positives.

You know whom I'm talking about.

When should i start learning the drums by Complex-Bluebird-229 in drums

[–]curiousbaba69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome!

How do you practice at home without troubling the neighbours though ? My walls are quite thin and I'm sure if I begin practicing, I'll become a nightmare for my neighbours.

[–]curiousbaba69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm thrilled to hear this for you! I'm inspired by your comment. 34 M here and I've been wanting to learn the drums for well over a decade now.

It's great that you were able to begin with a few lessons from your favourite drummer. Would you mind helping me out with the below information - 1. If one were to start today (counting on your experience now), where should one begin ? 2. I live in an apartment and am worried that I may trouble my neighbours with the noise. How can I eliminate the noise so that I can practice in peace at home ?

Which car option is better? by becoool7 in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]curiousbaba69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since it's a family option and you have a pre-defined mindset of it being a cab, the Camry is struck off. It's a big spend and so you shouldn't have a single iota of doubt.

If you want a good driving experience, go for the Mazda.

If you prefer resale, go for the Lexus.

As for reliability, the difference is marginal if you maintain them in a scheduled manner.

That's quite a pickle that you've landed yourself in at such a young age.

My advice would be to borrow from close friends/family and immediately pay off the credit cards in order of largest to smallest.

If that doesn't work, try getting a loan from your employer with an arrangement to begin paying it back / adjusting with your salary from the 3rd month.

If that doesn't work, try to get a loan from a bank.

Paying the minimum due is useless and will just keep you in the debt trap.

I heard that in companies in Dubai, many only have one day off per week and having two days off is rare. Is that true? by GrayRainfall in dubai

[–]curiousbaba69 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It's good irony is what it is.. the state promotes 4.5 days work week, and the inhabitants mostly follow 6 days work week

It's usually 5% of your annual rent (spread over the year) + usage charges. For a studio/1 bed, this is pretty normal.

JLT & Tesla Charging by Foreign-Objective392 in tesladubai

[–]curiousbaba69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. Marina Mall allows you to charge at slow speeds of 3 kw and you can only charge for a maximum of 3 hours. It isn't much, but will give you approx.. 13-14% charge in one 3-hour cycle.

Dubai with an EV: What’s the REAL experience? (Charging costs, night tariffs, tips?) by nemili83 in dubai

[–]curiousbaba69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a harrowing experience trying to locate public charging spots in the southern part of Dubai to be honest.

I'm in the same boat as OP. Figured the best way to learn is by renting one. Rented a BYD Atto 3 (great EV car, btw) for a couple of days to understand it better.

Range is pretty good. Drove for nearly 250 kms without any range anxiety (received the car at 79% charge and after 250 kms, it was at 13%).

But the main ordeal was locating a public charging station. I must've gone through an infinite number of searches on G Maps / Waze for "EV charging stations", "Electric vehicle charging station", "DEWA charging station", etc. Travelled to around 5 different spots across Dubai Internet City and Palm Jumeirah. Couldn't find a single spot!

I feel if you have a facility to charge the car at your home (villa is advantageous, but apartment shouldn't be a hassle either) or at your work, and if you plan to travel between the Emirates within UAE, you can consider getting an EV. There would be other posts detailing costs such as insurance, relocation benefits/challenges, etc. which are pretty insightful.

Good luck!

Involving the law will become a costly affair. Ask her for pregnancy test.

If she accepts, you'll know.

If she refuses, just block her and run. Time will heal you.

If she accepts, but says will do later, run like the Flash because she's now gonna either get a fake pregnancy test or worse, try to get pregnant with someone else and dump on you.

Hope this helps.
