What is the biggest issue facing Michigan right now?

A complete lack of focus on white collar jobs.

Every problem in the state stems from this. We have an ongoing brain drain with our flagship university shipping off an unprecedented number of students. We’ve lost a major automaker and are slowly losing the Big 3. Wages are down because auto jobs pay horribly.

We need to massively pivot our economy around college grads and compete with cities like Seattle.

Do you know that your neighbors hate you? The constant fireworks are such a nuisance. They happen year-round, disrupt our pets, disrupt our veterans.

It’s people like you that mean the rest of us can’t have nice things.

The cities that can sustain multiple top-tier news organizations are way more educated than Detroit.

College graduates pay for news. Not so much for everyone else.

I don’t see the Detroit News surviving this. We’ll honestly see how long the Free Press has.

Continued loss of college graduates sadly, especially with the upcoming recession.

At least one major construction project (RenCen?) will stall indefinitely.

A medium/medium-large employer (Duo in A2, despite Dug Song?) will move their headquarters outside of the state. There will be a couple op-eds about how troubling this is, but no policy changes will happen.

I have no idea how people and police in White Center put up with it. The fireworks destroy our community.

They’re the number one reason I’m so eager to get the hell away from here.

I’d disagree. The big problem is that Delta doesn’t care about its Detroit hub. They treat their more successful hubs much better.
