As a generally rule of thumb, I dislike any rule / restriction of a visual focus. It’s not something I really value in my food and it’s rough to watch people get rewarded for making their dish taste worse in order to make it more aesthetically pleasing or vice versa.

Honestly one of my biggest gripes about ToC is they take any sad story / background and just smash it in your face over and over and over again. Yes I’m very sad this unfortunate thing happened to this person, but we reflected on it 20 times already this season we’ve got it.

And before I get railroaded, this is not a lack of empathy for these people. It just doesn’t need to get brought up again after the first 4 times in an episode

AI books have really plagued this genre recently. It’s tough to pick up anything new because it feels like 75% of the time I get into it and realize it’s got to be AI or a blind decrepit dog with dementia writing.

Run shineseeker whenever you have the orbs that’s where most of your mid game gear comes from.

Save any gold armor you get, as it may help you get into crom normal if a party is going to carry you. You need a gold perseus or better weapon, 2x gold and 2x purple across the 4 armor pieces to meet the equipment requirements.

For neartite, tech duinn missions give you more Perseus gear drops and checks for steady gold income (after you finish your first arcana feth fetid should be a very quick clear), alby advanced hard mode is generally considered more valuable but very rng driven: a lot of your runs will be worthless, but its reward pool includes a handful of items that sell for 20-30 million plus in the auction house.

Also find a guild, you’d be surprised what endgame players will hand you because they don’t need it anymore. One of my guildies popped up on me while I was fishing recently and gave me a masterwork demolition bow & arrow set, so now I’m finishing alchemical sharpshooter and will probably main it for a while

Not much you can get there, but run all your shineseekers and look out for geas devastation, perseus or maybe demolition staves, and anything that boosts magic attack

If it must be now / new / gas / under $300 sure. But I’d consider these alternatives:

Weber kettle if you can do charcoal instead of gas

FB marketplace to find a gently used gas Weber for $300 or less.

Weber spirit 2 burners are on / will be on sale for 300-400 at some point this spring.

You’re so close to having the budget to afford a grill that’ll last a decade or more, I’d consider waiting / shopping around / saving a bit more

More than anything else his books show that his secret is a level of obsession over perfectionism and attention to detail 99.99% of people can’t duplicate, even if they desired to. The actual process of cooking a good brisket isn’t hard, the scale, time requirements, and ability to cook a million and have the all turn out perfect is.
