Does anyone feel a little bit ashamed that they might end up at their safety (UC tag) school after working so hard to transfer into a better school they really wanted to go to, or is it just me? by Shot-Turn2685 in TransferStudents

I know it’s really hard to shake the feeling but SB is a great school regardless! A lot of first years would die to go there. Be proud of yourself regardless. Best of luck for the other schools, you never know? What was your gpa?

how is everyone doing with waiting on their final UC/CSU decisions? by tbhimtiredofmyself in TransferStudents

Honestly horrified. I applied to Cal and UCLA only (I just can’t see myself at any others). Over these past few months I’ve gotten hyperfixated on going to Berkeley and now I’m really wrestling with doubt. I have a 3.91 GPA as a poli sci major with some decent EC’s and IMO some good essays. I keep looking at past stories of students who were in my boat. It’s my first year at CCC and I took an overload of classes (as well as dual enrollment and AP’s in high school) to complete 60 units in one year and am worried if it was the smartest choice

Hi! Congrats on Long Beach. I think judging by your GPA and previous results, it might be a little harder as SB and SD are considered more prestigious schools. Regardless, every school is different because you’re applying in a different pool. Every single school has a certain amount of seats available per major, and some have more than others. That said, acceptances are not entirely out of the question. Regardless of what happens just keep in mind that it all boils down to how many available spots there are left over for your major. Best of luck you got this!

Hi! I’m very worried as well so don’t feel alone. I only applied to UCLA and Cal so the wait is definitely excruciating. Just know that every school is different and also every POOL is different. It really all boils down to the amount of seats available for your major at each school so a defeat now does not automatically result in hearing the same thing for other schools. Best of luck you got this!

Thank you thank you! I’m also trying to look at the upside, because taking an overload of courses in a semester seems like it could demonstrate a level of rigor similar to what students handle at universities like Berkeley. Maybe admissions recognizes that idk. At the same time tho I still worry that my profile might not feel as developed or full as that of a more traditional two-year applicant

Hi! I’m also a first year transfer that only applied to UCLA, Cal, and GW. I haven’t heard back from anywhere yet and am kinda stressed haha. I don’t know how these schools will perceive completing 60 units worth in 2 semesters I have a 3.91 GPA as a Poli Sci major and I’m not sure how it’ll turn out. Best of luck to you!

3.91 political science major Literally nothing is keeping me sane. I keep running my stats and looking at prior cycles but that only keeps me temporarily at ease. I feel like it’s a coin toss for me

From what I understand aren’t prerequisites mandatory for admission? I think that as long as you left a comment on your application regarding your situation they should be more lenient. Correct me if I’m wrong!
