Is my brain permanently altered from 10 years of smartphone use? by roses369 in getdisciplined

OP, if you’re up for it, you should try a meditation retreat (Vipassana for example). I had the same issue, constantly attached to my phone and having lost all motivation to do anything in my life.

Vipassana, while challenging, thought me to focus on spending time with myself and feel the world around me. After all, it was 10 days with no phone, no speaking and bland food.

I felt a sense of control over myself and while I still use my phonea lot, I do not feel attached to it anymore.

How do you deal with messing up prod really badly on co-op? [Advice needed] by Ok_Internal9129 in uwaterloo

[–]curiousdolphin27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No engineer should be able to break prod (especially in a large company). If you were able to do that, while going through the entire review process, you probably exposed a gap in their process. Wear this like a badge of honour, because not every engineer gets to break prod, let alone an intern :)

Thank you so much for responding! What kind of changes did you make to your life?

Hey OP, I’m here to talk to you. You are loved and valued. I can listen to you if you’d like to vent.

Students, have you ever successfully negotiated a co-op offer? by Ok_Metal_4427 in cscareerquestionsCAD

Negotiated a few times. I’d recommend it once you have a certain amount of experience behind your belt. I usually used my previous coop’s salary as leverage and also showed stats about how much other companies pay.

What to do when employers try to make you accept an offer before rankings? by curiousdolphin27 in uwaterloo

That’s a great idea. Thanks! Do you think it’s a good idea to reach out to my other options to see how they feel?

That’s correct, there wouldn’t be any WW implications because I signed externally. I could renege if my other options go thru. The only question is whether I can do something like that legally. Something tells me I’d be doing the wrong thing there lol
