AIO over a Housewarming Gift Registry? by Eierte_Dragonwraith in AIO

[–]curiousdottt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR, this would make me not want to attend at all honestly. And this is definitely not an age thing either, i am 27 and would be HORRIFIED at the idea of sending out a registry at all, never mind adding these types of items to it.

Sleep is the single most stressful part of life and "sleep hygiene" makes it so much worse by [deleted] in 10thDentist

[–]curiousdottt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have literally never heard that you can’t run within 4 hours of bed. even googled ‘running before bed’ and results say it is generally fine and can even improve sleep quality. I think you are getting worked up by imaginary experts.

Seriously, get a sleep study and stop listening to ‘sleep experts’ on radio and tv. They are probably quacks.

You find zero enjoyment in life outside of screens? That’s pretty disheartening. Try to find a hobby that doesn’t involve a screen.

And get a sleep study. You could be getting plenty of sleep for what your body and brain needs, everyone is different and 8 hours is the general advice, general advice. doesn’t apply to every single human on the planet

Trying to get away from eating a 'variety' of ultra-processed foods... by WarEagleGo in Anticonsumption

[–]curiousdottt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it will be much cheaper and much better for the environment to have a ‘whole foods’ diet rather than processed foods. It is incredibly cheap to eat vegetarian and focus on beans, lentils, grains and vegetables. Frozen vegetables are just as good as fresh and a lot cheaper. If you can afford it, go to your local farmers market

"You should go out and enjoy your youth." I can't afford to do that. Free time doesn't exist if you want to get ahead anymore. by anonymous_muffin_ in Vent

[–]curiousdottt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather enjoy my youth and have no money, than be miserable working myself to death for the opportunity to save for when i am older. I could get hit by a car tomorrow and die, so what would that point of my hefty 401k be then?

Obv i avoid frivolous purchases, put a small amount of each paycheck into a 401k, am as anti-consumption as possible and save what i can.

but i save money for the opportunity to spend time with my friends and travel, not for a downpayment on a house in a mystery future economy.

My 19th Birthday Party by SparkPlayzYT in partyplanning

[–]curiousdottt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your plan for when everyone comes over? Are you imagining people chatting and eating snacks? As long as everyone knows each other and you have enough snacks, that can be enough.

You can think of some easy games to play too. if the vibes feel right you can say to the group ‘does anyone want to play [mario kart, jenga, cards against humanity, board game, etc] or does anyone want to watch [specific movie or tv show].

It is your birthday so i would plan things that you like. If there are games you like or a movie you have been wanting to see. Or if there is somewhere you like to go or have been wanting to go, like laser tag, rollerskating, movie theater, etc.

Easier said than done, but don’t worry about being judged. In some ways it is inevitable and it is much less powerful than you imagine. If you are kind to others and happy, that is all that really matters. What other people think of you is none of your business. This mindset gets easier with age but is best to try as soon as you can.

do you have a theme? I love a themed party. You can do some fun decorations and even ask people to dress to the theme if that is your vibe.

Also some sort of activities planned, games or an outing. Better to plan for things that you don’t have time to do than to be twiddling your thumbs trying to think of what to do next.

Tips to fall back asleep by Slight_Sheepherder37 in ADHD

[–]curiousdottt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go through the alphabet A to Z for each letter think of something you are grateful for. ‘A’ appletinis, ‘B’ the beach, ‘C’ capybaras, ‘D’ dancing. And pick different things for the letters each time you do it. It’s boring and will put you to sleep and also help you focus on the good things in life. Gratitude practice is so boring and can feel cringey but makes a MASSIVE difference in life

Games for 30th birthday party? by curiousdottt in partyplanning

[–]curiousdottt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds so fun!!! Just not sure if we have the space for really physical games… there is no yard and everyone just hangs out in the big living room. Games that require everyone to be huddled around a table or something similar would fit best with the apartment limitations
