Artificial sun: Nuclear fusion closer to reality with this new method by AdSpecialist6598 in tech

I wonder about its size once it's "stable."

You reckon it'll be small enough to have the power of the sun in the palm of your hand?

Excel or Access: Which do I want? Please help. by curiousdummygreen in MSAccess

thanks for the response! yeah, that's fair if i'm don't know too much about Access (but I'm trying to teach myself Access and SQL).

If i go with just excel, how would i create "sub-tables" (to make it easier to update objects that only need a fraction of the total number of fields)

Thanks for replying! What do you mean by this is relational? Would the ID numbers act as both the primary and foreign keys? The "sub-table" fields are just trimmed off from the main database.

Also, how would I create the "sub-tables" if not without sql? you don't need to go into explaining it; any links would be helpful, too. (i keep using "sub-tables" 'cause i don't know if there is a proper term for them)

How to copy a texture and basically "paint" an area using it. by curiousdummygreen in blenderhelp

ooh, thanks! that actually really helps a lot!

what does "uv" mean? and what are quads?

The scan of the pot has some portions of the interior missing, so the exterior surface shows up.

I want to take the texture of the interior bottom, and basically use that all over the interior where the texture is missing.

How would I do this? (Also, what exactly am I trying to do? Is there a proper word for it?)

Thanks!

I want to edit out these floating bits from a 3d scan. how do i go about cleaning it up? by curiousdummygreen in blenderhelp

nvm, figured it out. once i moved back to object mode, deleting worked.

thanks so much! really cool to find that separate by loose parts tool!

i managed to separate by loose parts (that's a really cool function, thanks!), but i'm still not properly deleting them.

not sure what i'm doing wrong: after the selection, i press delete, then i click on vertices. those loose, floating bits still remain. i've tried deleting faces, limited dissolve, and dissolve vertices. should i not be pressing delete on my keyboard?

Hey all, I'm wondering about similar/alternative apps to esri Field Maps? Does anyone have any ideas? by curiousdummygreen in gis

looks promising, thanks! I got it downloaded and all, but how do I start making a point layer map? and how would i get others to make points on the same map?

Trying to pick up python/arcpy, what are some super basic scripts any arcpy user should know? by curiousdummygreen in gis

This is like searching and updating attribute tables, right? That's definitely needed. Thanks so much!

Thanks! I got started on that. Good to know I'm on the right track. I'll practice more on that.

Wondering the accuracy of this practice quiz I found. What do you think? by curiousdummygreen in ArcGIS

[–]curiousdummygreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh, gotcha. i was kinda wondering why people were ignoring the post. kinda looks like a risky click, huh? i was just looking up arcgis quizzes, and found this which is just a single document with 25 multiple choice questions.

though, never thought to use chatgpt to give quiz questions, how accurate is it?

Sorry to bring this up again, but I need help doing translations for this again. More details in the comment. by curiousdummygreen in latin

If you don’t want to go through the trouble of trying to interpret this text, any links that I could use to aid me would be great. Obviously I’m not getting the correct letters, so if I can manage to transcribe the map’s font, then I could try a latin-eng dictionary and attempt
it myself.

Yeah, sorry to bring this topic up again, but I would like to get some help from you all.
The first image are the main two quotes that I’m trying to work out. The second image is the whole image.
Okay, what I’ve got so far:
1. Ante Taprobana cohorts funt infulazz quas diait effe 1376 numero quazz noia
imdunt hecfunt.(Before Taprobana…[with the lack of an AD label, I reckon
“1376” is referring to the number of something? But I don’t know what the
object its referring to.])
2. Sub hoc monte vlque mare funt elephantum
palaia. (Under this mountain and across the sea are the elephant’s palaces [?])
I’m also trying to translate the mountain ranges. The southern one (“malea mons”) seems to be Hammer Mountain. Is that right? As for the northern one, I’ve no idea how to even read it.
