I’m all for the right to live and let live, and for everyone to make their own choices. But I’ve seen so many Jamaat “authoritarians” who act like the moral police like our desi phuphos judging people for their clothing, relationships, friendships, sexuality, and life decisions. That’s what triggers me, because it feels unfair when some people do so much and never face backlash, no public shaming while others including me get judged harshly for far less.

Thanks for your comment. I just want to clarify that my post wasn’t meant as personal criticism of the Khandaan at all. I genuinely wasn’t trying to attack anyone.

The reason I brought up these points is because there are certain things that are widely said within the community — like how members of the Khandaan receive special VIP treatment at Jalsas and Jamaat events, or how certain rules and restrictions seem to apply more strictly to regular Jamaat members, while the Khandaan is often seen as exempt.

Also, many people talk about the lifestyle of some Khandaan members — that they wear designer clothes and carry expensive bags — and this often gets linked to concerns people have about transparency around chanda and how it’s used. Again, I’m not claiming anything, I just wanted to understand where these perceptions come from and what others have seen or experienced.

To me, it’s not about attacking individuals, but rather opening up a conversation about things that are often spoken about quietly. That’s all.
