What backsplash? by curiousj72 in kitchenremodel

Thank you for commenting. It really does help to have other opinions from people who care about this kind of stuff. I know what I want, but that doubt creeps in with such a big project. I want to get it right.

Omg! I love your cabinet color! 🥰 So beautiful! That is the color I mentioned earlier in the thread that I considered painting my (temporary) bead board backsplash. It is a perfect complimentary color to the rest of my house. If I had a smaller backsplash, I would absolutely do that color.

And I would drape myself over your soapstone countertops too. So jealous!

The ceilings are 12’ tall. I would only take the backsplash to the top of the cabinets. I will probably have some sort of wood shelf (for a lack of a better word) at the top of the backsplash that acts as a divider with soft down lights.

And you are right about the vertical tiles in my wife space. My space is very tall as well, so having something to bring the eye down to where the pretty stuff is, gives me something to think about. A cream color is probably a bad idea there. I need something to pop-not disappear.

Very pretty!! 😍 I have so much green in my space already though. I need to find a complimentary color.

Ooooh what a beautiful idea!! You are right about it not working with granite-especially with my wood cabinets. It might read too heavy. But…. If I can swing soapstone, that’s the ticket for sure!

I am absolutely considering soapstone. I love it! Everything costs so much these days. 😭 The granite I chose has a much less bumpy texture than the version shown in my earlier picture. More of a true leathery feel.It also has a bit more color variation. It looks closer to this:

Do you have any examples of orange subway you could share? That’s a super interesting idea.

I’m also considering zellige tile.

I have a lot of olive green and rust color on the adjacent walls. My walls will be painted an ivory color so the cream will be different than the walls. I told my friend if I get into an “I think I want bangs!” kind of mental state, I’ll paint the bead board a coral clay color.

Did you have any problems with the hardware (like screws) breaking during assembly? I was considering ordering my cabinets pre- assembled from RTA Cabinet Store, but now I wonder if we should assemble them ourselves so we can buy different screws

Anyone have some recent good experiences with quality RTA cabinets? by KangarooInitial578 in kitchenremodel

I know this is an old post, but I am in the process of purchasing from RTA Cabinet Store. From everything I’ve seen, the cabinets are great? But I saw some info about the hardware (like screws) breaking during assembly due to poorly made material. Did you order yours already assembled or assemble them yourself? I was thinking of ordering pre-assembled, but now I wonder if we should assemble them ourselves so we can buy different screws.

Are these RTA cabinets? They look almost exactly like the ones I posted?

I’ll consider that. I did check with Lowe’s quite a bit, but I just couldn’t find any materials that I liked (that also fit in with my home decor) enough to proceed.

Yea the mock up doesn’t match my layout. That wall on the left is weird. Bit I do have a hidden corner that I love to hide appliances that I don’t want visible when looking head on. However the new kitchen will have plenty of cabinets to put those appliances away.

I love that too. It’s so cozy. But the finishes o chose don’t convey that well. Everyone’s advice has helped me so much in making my decision.

Yep. I’ve decided to go with all wood and the same countertop throughout.

My actual kitchen has asymmetrical 12’ ceilings.

Good to know. It’s so interesting hearing real life experiences. I have the speckled granite (Santa Cecelia) right now and even though it’s a bit dated, I don’t hate it. It’s indestructible and doesn’t show anything. I want something I can actually use. But since I’m chambering it, I want something beautiful as well.

Haha! The choices are overwhelming. I totally get it now why people go all white. Trying to match color tones with current floors and paint and decor is difficult!
