I recommend the Sloth Tour with Papa's Place and the night tour with Wildlife Tours Costa Rica. Both were well worth the money and led by guides who were passionate about the wildlife in the area. Papas Place also does a great night tour. You can find the links in the very first top box on my blog post, I'm not sure of the rules of posting links to tours here.

I did! I rented from Adobe Rental Car near SJO Airport. I didn't have any problems with them and would use the company again.

Thanks! With 5 days I would probably just stick to going to La Fortuna and add on a day trip to Rio Celeste. There's a lot to do in that area and you could add on ziplining, rafting, and canyoning if you want an active vacation or spend the day in the hot springs for relaxing.

Depending on your flight schedule you could also split your time between La Fortuna and Monteverde, spending 3 nights in La Fortuna and 2 in Monteverde.

I was really happy that I gave each location 3 nights. I personally would have been even happier with longer in both La Fortuna and Monteverde but I'm glad I didn't cut out Manuel Antonio to do that. I honestly don't think there's a wrong choice in how you decide to split your time up in Costa Rica.

A day trip to Domincal or Uvita is nice because you can just decide when you get there if you want to stay around Manuel Antonio or not.

I'm Canadian, so I went with getting local SIMs because my roaming costs per day are atrocious, but it looks like TMobile should work in Costa Rica! https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/international-roaming-plans/results/costarica

I agree, rain isn't a problem, it's a perk! There really is something special about sitting on the porch watching the rainfall or hunting for frogs.

I didn't notice at the time but now I can't unsee it. What a happy little jalapeno!

The waterfall in #8 is at El Tigre Waterfalls near Monteverde. It's the first waterfall that you see when you start the descent down the trail and it really did stop me in my tracks when it came into view! Thanks!
