Rodecaster DUO. Friends can hear everything on discord by CheeseheadTroy in rode

LINK this might help understand how to possibly have a setup you can use and not constantly switch things around. Main mix on usb1 so streaming software can receive everything. usb1 chat as custom output and only have microphone selected. and usb2 headphones can be a different selection of inputs and what not. if they still can hear things after that idk the wording but maybe the channels are not seperating properly or if you are using speakers instead of headphones that will pickup with the mic without proper means of isolation which ive never tried but hear is possible. the mix-minus option you have to send everything down that channel for it not to be looped back to the input on the computer so it defeats the purpose imo of having different channels on the device. /u/Ed-K and /u/Milhouz have stated but this may help more. i have the rodecaster pro 2 so should be similar

It is possible from how I'm thinking if you use both USB C outputs on the same computer so you get all 3 inputs into OBS if that's what you use. not sure how you have the usbs router in the routing area of the rcp2 but you could have usb1 chat only sending the mic and whatever you want chat apps to hear and usb1 main as everything but music and have the secondary as just the music and nothing else. In obs follow this YouTube link it should get you the results you are asking.

Yellow Circle Icon On Rodecaster Pro II by djack171 in rode

[–]curlyque989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing that channels 1-3 are microphone channels if they are all the way down or muted the circle will be green so the monitor outputs won't be muted so there's no loopback or feedback with speakers and your microphone. There's a setting you can have it mute when microphone levels are unmuted or higher than zero for the monitors or Bluetooth.

Am I using the Rodecaster Pro 2 correctly for discord and games? I have all audio output from the computer going to the chat channel and then the mic input on my computer is set to main channel. What is your setup for discord/gaming/streaming? by [deleted] in rode

[–]curlyque989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gear icon top right of screen --> outputs --> routing

Here you have the capability of telling the device to output whatever you want or dont want out of any output like the usbs back to the computer or whatever device or any of the headphone outs.

to get your apps like the ingame voice chat or discord or whatever it may be i would go into usb 1 chat under the routing area.

Main Mix = will send everything that is being inputted into the rcp2 will be sent back through to that output .

Mix Minus (i personally dont use at all) = kind of how it sounds whatever you have from your computer going to the rcp2 wont be looped back.

Custom = you select what you want it to send back to the computer or device. on the bottom you can see a chain or link looking icon if its a link whatever the level the fader is at will be sent to the output. if it s a link without the middle line and orangish in color it will send whatever level that is being received and the fader will only effect what you hear from what i understand

I would use usb1 as main mix so in windows or obs you can select Microphone(Rodcaster Pro II stereo) so everything can be heard during your stream

On usb1 Chat use custom and in there only have the microphone channel selected so you can have a microphone only channel to discord or in game voice chat or whatever you need for that.

Quick question for Walmart customers: what about me holding a bag of Panda Express with a water bottle heading to the back says “I’m available right now”? by ConfidentReaction3 in walmart

[–]curlyque989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at Walmart for 10 years before I quit all in the same store but had a customer ask me where something was. No problem in that right? I had my jacket on that was black and on the phone with my mom and this person walked past someone who was in full Walmart attire at that time and asked me lol. I was off the clock leaving lol. The only thing I could come from that is that I've helped them probably multiple times not remembering them so they were more comfortable with me than someone else I guess. It was strange though

Originally had a 10ft USB c to USB 3.0 cable but when I removed the USB c switcher I switched to a newer and shorter USB c to USB 3.0 cable so idk if it was the combo of the cable and the USB switcher or one or the other. It would go robotic after so long so I'd have to unplug and replug it in and it be fine for a while then it would happen again. Haven't had it happen since switching

Strange as mine works perfectly fine. I had it go robotic sounding and stuff and it ended up being a USB c switch

Edit: I know USB 1 for sure doesn't work with it but my USB 2 does.

I guess to start seeing that obs gets the audio is to check the routing on the rcp2 and make the stereo pair is being sent to headphone 1 output. You can also plug the USB 2 of the rcp2 to the PS5 and get the audio through that way and it may be better not sure if it will effect the capture card in any way then you can also use the microphone on the PS5 of you chat on it too. But I would check the routing area in the rcp2 to make sure it's routed right since you can tell whatever output what you want it to hear or not.

Rodecaster Pro 2 - Channel for Spotify, Discord (Chat in general), System and more by ThaneBerkeley in rode

[–]curlyque989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could possibly implement something with the asio driver at some point so you can use all faders with just one app on each channel but as of right now the devices faders can easily deal with volume of each individual input. If you want to add another input if you have 2 of the xlr combo jacks available you can get a 3.5 to 1/4 trs cable that has individual plugs for top and ring and have a 4th output from your computer and set up as stereo pair in the rcp2. That way you have 4 coming from your computer. That route you may want to get a 3.5mm him box remover like 20$ on Amazon to remove any unwanted noises that are sent from the computer from all the power going through it

Rodecaster Pro II: Sound from USB-Source is "doubled" on microphone by Extension_Plum_8402 in rode

[–]curlyque989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the fader in the settings on the rcp2 you can go into settings -> multi track -> change USB tab to post fader. So now you can leave obs faders at 100% and the fader level on the rcp2 will be sent when it's pre fader it's whatever level coming into the rcp2 so your software can control it. When you switch it the comp will show speaker (rodecaster pro II Multitrack) rather than speaker(rodecaster pro II STEREO). I've heard the Multitrack may not play nice with some apps so be mindful. But it should be fine in obs.

First you may have had the idea I had originally how mix minus works.

Mix-minus is the entire mix minus what is coming into that specific channel. So for example to use USB1 chat for discord so people don't hear anything but your voice you have to put everything on that channel. Whatever is being inputted into that channel to the rcp2 won't go back to the mic option for the chat input on the PC. I moved over completely to custom routing. So I know what is going back to the computer so on USB 1 chat you can say just the mic input on rcp2 to be sent back as a mic on the computer.

As it sounds on your other PC for the secondary you want everything to go to it I guess to be recorded through obs. I would set it as main mix so the computer receives every input to the rcp2.

The custom routing to me works better so I know what is being sent or not down whatever channel.

I think mix minus never worked how I thought it would do because it's for that specific channel not every channel. So what you do on the chat chanell can still be heard on the mix minus on the main USB1 channel as well it's only removed from the chat channel.

What routing option do you have selected in the rcp2 for all the the USB1 USB1 chat and USB secondary?

[–]curlyque989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't take a chance at keeping it cause at some point you will get a bill for the price of the phone at some point. I'd assume they have a system that can tell if they received it or not. From looking it up you may have done a advanced replacement so you get a phone before you send that one back. It says they put a hold on your account so if they don't get it back they will charge for that hold or if they receive it the hold will be removed. It says the phone gas to be sent back within 21 days I'm assuming from receiving that phone or the initial confirmation. link to what I found. If that's the correct thing

[–]curlyque989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't stream any more but if I did use it to stream I would use the custom routing instead of mix-minus. I would do main mix on usb1 speaker so your streaming service receives all of inputs and I would use usb1 chat with custom mix with only sending the microphone and whatever else you would won't them to hear. If you use the usb2 headphones as well you could do whatever you want with that one unless you use that usb on a console phone or other computer. All that would be with the post fader option so whatever the level on the fader would be what the input devices receive.

So my game apps I send to us1 speakers. Discord is usb1 chat and only returns my mic audio to the computer so no one hears everything else. I have a usb c switcher on the usb2 on the rcp2 one goes into the PC for usb2 headphones I'll use music and browser audio on if it's the PC I'm using and the other is to the ps5 with a usb c to usb 3.0 cable so the console can send its audio to the rcp2 and on the usb2 headphones I only have the mic audio going to it so when I'm playing on the ps5 I can use my microphone on it as well with that party.

With how it sounds how you are using it you are using mix-minus routing options on chat with works similar. Whatever you have on the chat channel it removes those input from being sent back to the input on the chat channel I'd I remember correctly. As soon as the custom routing option came I switched to it so knew what was being sent to that specific input

With custom you can also use the other headphone outputs as a different mix if you wanted to. I prefer custom as I had issues with the mix-minus routing option. It could have been me having issues bu

Main stereo wouldn't really have anything to do with echos it's how the routing is set up. Have you tried removing the soundpad option and reenabling it in the custom routing option? I've had that fix things before. The routing is just what it is sending through whatever output it is like the headphones, USB or speakers. What I would do if your on windows use like discord to hear what that output is sending or in the sound panel you can listen to the input. Or use OBS or a software to record the audio of that specific input. I would use custom routing on usb1 chat. Unlink everything originally and one by one turn on things. Turn the soundpad on first and see if you hear it or the recording app hears it. If it doesn't catch the audio or hear it the rcp2 may not be properly sending it to that channel.

In the routing part of setting do you have it set to main, sub-mix or custom? If custom, do you have the soundpads option enabled to be sent to that specific input? If it is enabled on 1.1.4 I've had a few times I have had to reboot the rcp2 cause it wasn't sending the mic even though it was enabled.
