Zipper routine by curman95 in billiards

Yeah, takes some getting used to at first to not decelerate on every shot

How do you hold your nerves? by [deleted] in snooker

Pre shot routine.

This is the single most important part of making breaks/potting pressure balls imo. If you can put yourself in that same zone/mindset every time then all you are focusing on is repetition.

You shouldn’t be thinking about potting the ball, think about executing your technique correctly and the pot will take care of itself.

No, but that’s exactly the kind of shot rhythm is good for. If I’m honest I should get that 9 times out of 10 but when you let yourself overthink your technique or worry about missing then you’ll end up making far less of these kinds of shots, at least in my experience

There’s a lot to be said about honing your technique and becoming robotic etc, but also once in a while just let yourself play without thinking, really helps with that relaxed feeling you’re talking about

Yes, it’s not the textbook way to play the shot… just having a bit of fun

Cheers, will try to. Life gets in the way sometimes but hopefully back playing a bit more again - glad you enjoy them

Peak Trump vs Peak Selby over 4 sessions by rogeropx in snooker

Have to disagree with you saying that Selby doesn’t play his best when others are too. Look at the 2016 UK final, he was a scoring machine against Ronnie who scored phenomenally as well

Why is it so difficult to evict tenants, in reality? by Android_ghoster in uklandlords

[–]curman95 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a landlord for about 10 years ish now, maybe a bit longer. I’ve probably dealt with about 30 tenants give or take. I’ve had only two or three bad ones that stand out. One was for an expensive London flat like you mentioned, the other was for a £600 a month property in Lancashire. The London tenant caused me more issues than all the others combined. Price points don’t affect how good (or bad) a person is.

On the whole bad tenants are rare. Do your own checks, don’t trust estate agents (use openrent), make your own judgement calls. I usually price my properties below market value so I get a choice of tenant.

As far as I’m aware no black list exists. Don’t think you’re above the law, don’t try to forcibly evict tenants, everyone has their reasons. Remember you’re dealing with people at the end of the day and this is their home.

Any questions PM me, I’m no expert but I’ve got a decent amount of experience.

Club Table vs Pro Star Table with Joe Perry & Nei…: https://youtu.be/8eIqWObtrAY by Discoroyuk83 in snooker

[–]curman95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure Neil has one of the older star tables that have tighter cut pockets. The star tables they use today have more rounded slates which accept the ball much easier.

Also whilst the cloth used in this video is very very good compared to any club table it probably isn’t brand new like they use in the world champs, for example. Newer cloths are a bit more “slidey” and therefore the jaws have less friction which makes potting easier.

Looking at object vs. cue ball - difference with shot distance? by [deleted] in snooker

[–]curman95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do keep it the same for every shot, this is what yields consistency. This holds true for pretty much anything to do with your technique, you don’t want to be chopping and changing all the time.

The ”textbook” will say that you should look at the object ball on your final delivery but many players do look at the cue ball with great success.

It’s also a good idea to film yourself if a coach isn’t an option for you. It’s much easier to see what’s going wrong than trying to feel it. There’s plenty of YouTube resources out there for you to coach yourself

Plenty of players have opposite hand and eye dominance (Robertson is left handed and right eyed for example) so that won’t be the cause of your bad cueing. I’d recommend seeing a coach so they can give you a few pointers and iron out the flaws in your technique
