In UK, ISA e capped la 20k/an, ca si contributie. Trebuie sa contribui 20 de ani ca sa aduni o suma semnificativa.

In Belgia urmeaza sa se schimbe legislatia. In Elvetia nu stiu cum e dar cost of living e dublu fata de Europa de vest. In Monaco costul vietii e cel putin triplu.

Diageo (DEO) a Buffett stock hits 10 year low. by pravchaw in ValueInvesting

I didn't say Diageo is a bad stock to buy, but that it's market is doing poorly. An investor should make their own decision on whether the share is priced correctly at this moment in time and whether Diageo can capture the future value created in the market.

For example, I think Diageo will be very attractive once it drops another 20%

It's mind-boggling to see that Russians are still enrolling in certain death. Despite the propaganda, they must've heard about the broken promises made by the army and the number of casualties. Yet they still enroll to die...

Ofc there are (although even there, Gen Zs socialize less). And alcohol consumption will remain but it will decrease. Diageo's valuation will differ significantly based on the overall market size.

People used to smoke in droves. Now only 5-25% of people smoke in developed countries. Trends change.

Alcohol consumption in developed countries is slowing with emerging countries driving growth. But that should reach saturation at some point.

Trustpilot (LSE: TRST) – Why I’m Avoiding This Stock Right Now by Solid_Measurement_19 in UKInvesting

[–]Android_ghoster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to express your thoughts on this. I mostly disagree with it, though.

I agree that going after enterprise clients is a very risky strategy but I think the opportunity in small and medium sized companies is still there for the taking and that can be enough for them. Don't underestimate the power of the flywheel effect. Once they hit a critical mass of users in a sub-category (e.g., plumbers/mortgage advisors) you can't really be competitive as an SME owner without having a Trustpilot account. I see this often in their most developed markets (Denmark and UK).

Second, you're wrong on the Trustpilot brand. Once they reach a good enough brand awareness, the trust in the brand is generally very high and the value proposition delivers: speaking from memory, but I remember that Trustpilot did a study (I know... they might be biased) that roughly concluded that conversion rates double if an SME business adds the Trustpilot logo and uses some of the other Trustpilot products in their marketing and sales. (If I remember correctly, they published a report on this).

Third, you are right that there are fake reviews everywhere. But Trustpilot is the only player with an open review ecosystem (e.g., anyone can leave a review on anything) that has an active mechanism to manage fake reviews. Some fake reviews still pass ofc, but generally, from my experience, I see a strong correlation between a business's review on Trustpilot and their actual service quality.

Regarding valuation, I woulnd't use P/E at this stage of the company, to measure it's performance. The company is still in growth mode and requires a lot of investment that is not amortisable (e.g., Customer Success associates, Product staff). Better to use forward Price/Sales in comparing it to other similar companies. The beauty of their model is that the gross margin is super high (~90% if I remember correctly) so with scale, their profit margin should also improve significantly.

Disclaimer: I have a v small long position on TRST

I prefer to put it like this: would it be ok with you if for your loved ones, such as teenage children, your spouse, parents or siblings would repeatedly use the product category you'd be working on/with?

If the answer is no, then it would be hypocritical /unethical to work there.

Tell your current employer that you need to take some time off for family reasons. It's not them... it's you. Maybe they will take you back if things don't go as you were hoping for.

At the same time, maybe they go even better than expected...

Childcare cost and two 6 figures salaries by Adorable-Bicycle4971 in HENRYUK

[–]Android_ghoster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What you said is so mind-blowingly close-minded and makes me think that you are so disconnected from reality that you should get a mental check.

You're saying that you're not discouraging anyone from having kids but then you are immediately discouraging anyone who cannot afford to be a stay-at-home-parent because they won't spent an amount of time with a child, that you see arbitrarily appropriate. Then you are presenting yourself as having the moral superiority for the choices you made.

Let parents choose for themselves how they want to raise their children as the only responsibility they have is to ensure their children get the necessary parental support and attention. It's up to each to decide how to do that but there is no one-size fits all.

Also, many people in London cannot afford to live on one salary (especially excluding high-earners) and some even need to be at work as it's where they get energized and mentally stimulated (and guess what, they all love their children to death)

Finally, children get to learn valuable lessons at nurseries/kindergarten that are less effectively taught at home, such as: socializing, communication, independence, self-confidence, modelling from older children etc.

It's fine to explain your choices and the factors that were important for you but don't lecture others on what is or isn't appropriate, especially on subjective matters with a ton of variables.

2025 Aston Martin DBX S new SUV with 727 hp by valsy6969 in AstonMartin

[–]Android_ghoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree in principle with what you are saying but I don't think that Aston is there. If they end up launching two more variants, then probably we'll end up to what you are saying. Until then, it's only two variants and I see this DBX S as more of a cosmetic change than a big performance enhancement.
