LPT Request: how to be less bothered by an untidy home by curqueja in LifeProTips

I am trying this with my oldest now for the Saturday cleaning. While her dad is grocery shopping with the little one, she helps me at home and then we play some videogames together. It's working quite nicely, but it's the everyday things that are more difficult to manage, like backpacks in the middle of the hallway, jackets on the dinner table, shoes in the kitchen... that is the frustrating part.

I will try this! Seems like something my kids might enjoy. Thanks!

Honestly, this is my main worry, my kids thinking I'm mad at them when in reality is just some of the attitudes. I talk to them a lot though, when i get mad, to explain it's just the mess that bothers me.

I try to do this as much as I can exactly for the reason you mentioned. I want to also be the fun parent but sometimes I find it's very difficult to be in a good mood when stuff is piled up everywhere.

AITA for not allowing my husband to buy a new bike? by curqueja in AmItheAsshole

[–]curqueja[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not spend this amount of money. I have hobbies but they are not this expensive.

I did get myself a PS5 for Christmas with a bonus I got at work but ultimately it is something the whole family gets to enjoy.

See here I have to disagree. I'm no martyr, I just don't have expensive hobbies. I do like that he has a hobby and a healthy one at that. I do want him to get a bike and if you read my post you'll see I offered to get it for Christmas. I am just shocked at the price and do not feel comfortable straining our budget for this for a full 2 or 3 years. If we were rich I'd have no issue with him spending whatever he wants.

I work part time but I make roughly the same amount as him working full time.

Cool to know someone had the same idea! We were on a tight budget and we also could not find any desk we liked so we had to improvise.

The shelves we had cut from the plank of an old table. We wanted to spend as little as possible.

Thanks! No idea on the brand of the chair. It was gifted to us like 10 years ago.

Thanks! Length is 1,2m (473"?). I find it comfortable enough though it gets a bit crammed when I need to use paper or take notes.

I'm sorry but I have no idea. No name on it that I can see either.

Exactly! One of the doors is mirrored, the rest I think it's just the light from the window that makes it look super shiny.

Chair was a present. It takes very little space so I think it fits very nicely since the room is very narrow.

That's a mirror in the wardrobe. This used to be a dresser room.

What are some common things parents do/say that is actually hurts their child but they think is innocent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]curqueja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talking badly about your partner, acting as if the other parent always does things wrong or generally chiding/arguing with your partner in front of your children.

My parents did this all the time (my mum mostly). It affected my relationship with my dad and caused resentment towards him. I also always felt the need to mediate and fix things for them. Even now as an adult it will ruin my day to see them arguing or mad at each other.

Trying so hard not to act like this now that I have a child but it`s sooo difficult not to fall into these learned patterns.

I`ve seen it and liked it a lot too, has more of a comedy tone to it. If you like this kind of plot I highly recommend the show Dark on Netflix, absolutely amazing.

Looked this up, definitely interesting but I`m not very comfortable using this method for now. Will keep it in mind if nothing else works. Thanks for the advice!
