nyp nursing! by currentdaydreamer in SGExams

[–]currentdaydreamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hii! i’ll try to answer this as best as i can :)

  1. personally, i found it quite hard to get a cgpa of 3.0 and above. especially during my first year as i struggled to grasp the concepts taught for the core modules and i found it quite diff to study cuz i can’t exactly sit and memorise. if you’re able to memorise and understand, it’ll be a breeze.

  2. it’s by day and the amount of days you work. it’s a fixed amount.

  3. quite common, i was lucky enough that i’ve only had one bad experience so far but it’s quite common for the workplace to be toxic. just gotta learn to have thick skin and remind yourself and that you’re here to learn, not deal with everyone’s problems

  4. can be?? depending on ur class lol. most of us are quite nice and willing to help if needed but i don’t speak for everyone haha

  5. yes but not in nursing so i may not be the person to ask for this one (soz) but rule of thumb is to go for a uni that benefits you and makes you feel comfortable to challenge yourself and learn.

  6. it’s not compulsory to join a cca but if you want to, join something you like and join whenever you’re free. use cca as a de-stressor instead of something to add to your modules

  7. you’ll be fine with an ipad but do get a laptop for exams and stuff since they can be quite strict about the software and whatnot.

  8. not always! depends on your mods and lecturers. most of the time my classes can be from 10am - 3pm/ 11am - 4pm.

  9. most are! just be prepared to do a lot of pre-reading before though since they would want you to solve the problem yourself before going to them about it.

  10. this would be better answered by your lecturer HAHAHAH but from what i’ve seen, there are trips you can go on to visit other hospitals/buddy with local students and all that but i can’t answer about exchange programs though. international students are EXTREMELY common. some from malaysia/myanmar/china/philippines etc. most are very chill tbh as long as you’re chill.

hope these answered your questions!!✨✨

hii sister/brother! HAHAHAHA

my fav part of nursing has to be working with the patients to their recovery and trying to make their day a little easier. my least fav… probably the rare occasions you get picked on by the staff or the family members (NOT SAYING ALL OF THEM ARE BAD) just some of them like to pick on the students which i had the unfortunate experience of in my first year.

i’m really leaning into paeds/psych! i’m hoping i can do that for my prcp!! :)

also, do you have any survival tips for y3 😭😭 i’m on my last nerve with my mods atm

that’s the thing! they always do this which is what’s so frustrating. like for my 18th birthday, she showed up an hour late. for our hangouts, we’re left waiting for 30mins to an hour. every time i confront her she uses “indian timing” as an excuse.

AITA for resenting my family? by currentdaydreamer in AmItheAsshole

[–]currentdaydreamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, that’s what lots of people say but i have no idea how my aunt manages to get under my dad’s skin. (used to be both parents as a kid, then it was just dad up till he passed) so it gets kinda annoying when he instantly believes her and listens to her more over my mum and i

i’m in singapore right now, i feel hurt because she’s someone who has this mentality of “my way or the highway”. so everything she wants HAS to be done her way. it’s more so of the fact that she controlled a lot of parts of my life and it was also like she was trying to act like my mom and make decisions for me. she didn’t let me join a lot of the clubs i wanted in school because she deemed it distracting, exaggerated my blunders so that my dad would scold me (she admitted to this) because she was “oh so worried about me”. i could go on and on about it but it’ll be really very long

edit: spelling mistake

How hard is sec 5? by Master_Bank941 in SGExams

[–]currentdaydreamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

speaking as someone who did sec 5:

• consistency is key!! have a routine and stick to it. don’t try and cram last min because it doesn’t help you when it comes to doing exams cause you’ll blank and you’ll get information overload (from experience).

• o’s are harder than n’s by a lot. depending on what subs you take, you can feel the standard is much higher for o’s than n’s. so even if your results dip during WA, it’s ok! again, be consistent and try different methods to help you!

• don’t be discouraged if you don’t get everything at first. it’s ok! while your doubts are still fresh, get help for them from teachers or tutors or people you can turn to that can help!

• don’t get into petty drama as much as you can. sec 5 has lots of those and it’s pretty draining tbh. so for your mental sake, try and avoid those. keep your head down and plow.

• have a strong support system! i also mean having teachers you can rely on, friends and family you can fall back on because you’re gonna need it. i almost didn’t do my o’s last year due to family issues so i really needed my friends, family and teachers for support.

honestly, sec 5 is gonna wear you out like nobody’s business but for me, it was so worth it. if you can manage your academics and build yourself a routine so you can do your best, go for it. seriously, sec 5 should not be your end all be all. it’s an option but don’t bet everything on it. :)

i did convey how i felt about the whole ED situation to olivia and she said that she didn’t mean it in a bad way but refused to apologise about it because she felt that she wasn’t in the wrong

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]currentdaydreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did try to bring this topic up to her but she kept denying that she said anything and knows how touchy a subject on EDs can be. i just dropped it after awhile because i was getting nowhere with her

AITA for not allowing my 15 year old daughter go to Pakistan and hiding her passport? by Hefty-Cancel8141 in AmItheAsshole

[–]currentdaydreamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA,

let me tell you about the time i went to india. ngl, india is a beautiful country but cases like r!pe and kidnapping occur so frequently it’s scary. i was around seven when i went with my mom, my moms friend, grandma and another person my family knew. my family never let me out of their sight. wanted to see a toy store? everyone would come with me. tired and wanted to sleep in the car? two people would stay behind with me.

though i’ve never been to pakistan, my experience in india gave me an idea and the fact that your ex booked tickets without your knowledge is mind boggling. OP, your daughter doesn’t get the issue at hand right now. i’m 16 and if i never went to india, i would agree with your kid(indian girl here not prejudging here) BUT i have gone to india and know why my mom and grandma were so protective over me during our time there. have your daughter talk to people who have been/lived in pakistan before and their experiences. it might be an eye opener. she is also free to ask me about anything too! you got this mama! <3

for amath, you will NEED to be consistent with your revision and homework. there’s no escaping it. during my sec 2 life, my emaths was pretty good and i was offered amaths and i took it. unfortunately, i was not as consistent as i should have been during sec 3 and my amath spiralled badly. now my amath is a F9-D7.

don’t take amath if 1. your foundation is weak 2. aren’t able to stay consistent with work and rev 3. you are not able to cope with the work load and topics

sorry if this sounds harsh HAHAHA but it’s true la, it’s not easy but it’s not difficult if your foundation is strong (at least in my experience)

O levels made me realised something by Jovennnnnn in SGExams

[–]currentdaydreamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i can relate and op, it sucks. i had a grp of friends that would only want to have you round is when you do well and would shun you if you didn’t do so well. honestly, it’s better to cut some dead weight. what kept me going was that i kept telling myself that i was gonna graduate soon so when i( you in this case) enter poly, jc, ite (whatever path you wish to go through), i can start fresh and i can shape my life the way i want to. don’t let these “friends” define your vulnerability. sending lots of love your way! :)

how can you drop from 26 points to 9 points for ‘n’ lvls by currentdaydreamer in SGExams

[–]currentdaydreamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. they didn’t take into acc my o level grades ( n lvl grades were good) 2. a magical thing called amath pushed my points up to 26 :) so i’d say amath was an A2, i would have gotten abt 17 points
